    • CVO1: 2011 FLHTCUSE6 Black Ember, Rio Red

Well, at least I got to put 1,000 miles on my bike in a couple weeks before I got my first lower fairing chips from road debris.  Hated to see it but what the heck, it's gonna happen.

Anyone got the part number for 2011 Black Ember/Rio Red HD Touch Up Kit?

Local dealer couldn't find the part or number on his computer.  I saw paint codes for older bikes in an earlier posting but not for later than '07.

Thanks.

Sledge.....maybe suggest to your dealer parts guy if he can't find it on the computer.....he can look for the parts number in the catalog. :2vrolijk_21:

Sledge,

CVO touch up kit for black ember & rio red is #98601DFN. It is very pricey $62.95.  Your dealer should at least discount it 10%

Thanks Danner.

Since I didn't buy my bike from the local dealer I won't get a discount for sure.  Heck I had to ride 60 miles to Slidell to get my brake switch recall since my local dealer only ordered enough parts for the bikes they sold.   It was a nice ride though, and this time I had a better excuse for the wife than "I need to go get a one dollar powerball ticket".

I can understand them making sure the bikes they sold get first work but I've spent 10k there in parts and acc. over the last few years.  They knew I was needing the work done and they sure could have ordered an extra one.  I won't forget how I was treated and will probably get the paint (plus whatever else I need in the future) at another dealership.

Try one of the online dealers, many of them offer 15-20% discounts and even with shipping charges you'd save about $10 over MSRP at a local dealer.  Surdyke, Zanotti, Chicago H-D, etc.  Of course, I doubt you'll find dealers have this sort of thing in stock, so you'll need to allow time for them to order it, then ship it to you.

Yep, Surdyke for $49 and change.  However I only save 5 bux when you include shipping.

I think I'll order it from the HD dealer in Slidell tomorrow and take a ride down across the Rigolets to pick it up.  Maybe I'll spend a buck on a lottery ticket.  I'll have to get gas and get a bowl of gumbo.

Option 2 costs me a few dollars more but is a heck of a lot more fun, nice ride with water on both sides of the road.   Weather is 'sposed to be highs in the low 70's and low in the low 40's for 10 days or so.  Perfect.

Since I will need some higher dollar items in the future, like the tp quick detach kit, I'll probably use Surdyke, who I have had good exp with in the past.

Sledge,

Surdyke is good! Try LSHD1, they offer 20% discount also. I buy all my parts the either 1! You can save alot of money & not have to deal with your local dealer. Put a large order together & they only charge 1 shipping price. You need to post the dealers name that is treating you so good! Then when we are traveling thru you area we all can make it a point not to stop & give him any of our business.

About the local dealership:  I've been going there for a long time and the service level has been up and down.  Staff changes.  New managers are hired.  People get fired that never should have been in the customer service business in the first place.

The service mgr screwed up the way he handled the brake switch issue but I can't badmouth the entire dealership for that.  All in all it's a pretty good bunch of folks.  However, the way I look at it the folks over in Slidell took care of me when my local dealer couldn't, so they have earned some of my business.

Slidell must have come a long way since '73...I don't remember much being there...spent a couple of night's there back then at a rich Hippie Chick's house (her daddy was rich) on the Bayou.  New Year's Eve...went to see an Allman Bros concert in N.O., came back to her house, and she insisted on showing me her daddy's 40' sailboat parked on the Bayou in back of her house.  For some reason, her daddy wasn't real happy with me after that night...but it wasn't my fault.  ::) ;)  Busted...

Will have to get back down there on the scoot in the next couple of years to see how much the area has changed.
