Scored Oil Pump SE110
« on: November 09, 2011, 08:01:15 PM »

Having my haeads being done so in preparation for the install. The mechanic decided to check oil pump as aprecaution.

What he found wearing on the outer edge (circumfrence) of the Gerator where it fits into the aluminum housing of the pump. The aluminum housung also show scoring, however only in one spot.

Took assembly to the dealer service manager and mechanic looked it over and said some debris must have caused it and asked if I used the HD filter and I advised yes. They went on to explain that because the gerator had a "hard" coating on it and the body was aluminum there was nothing to worry about.

Rather than get into a pissing contest with them at that moment I would ask some of you if you have had this experience.
I will try and take some picturs and post.

Thanks,

Better check crank run out so that pissing contests are avoided and facts are on the table.

Crank run out was checked, however not by delaer and it was .004 which I thought was excellent.

Part nmber for the oil pump is 26277-08, is the up dated oil pump?

Leo, the latest and greatest oil pump offering from Harley itself is carrying part number 62400001.  That's the pump that is part of a cam plate and oil pump kit carrying part number 25284-11.

My bad, sorry Leo.  That is an -11 part number but the 25284-11 number cited above is a newly available kit to upgrade the older pre-07 bikes.  The comparable kit for the newer bikes is 25282-11.

That 25282-11 kit for the current bikes also uses that latest oil pump 62400001 though.  I put one of the 25282-11 kits in an 09 bike about a month ago.  Still have the parts breakdown that came with the kit here in the shop to confirm.  Oil pump 62400001 for the latest Screamin' Eagle branded oil pump.

Slow down a second
Nothing was wrong with the pump at the inception what happened? Any new pump regardless of the number will be afflicted again if the root cause is not dealt with. If there is foreign matter in the oil then the problem is just collateral damage.

Not intending to speak for Leo here.  But rereading the thread I don't see anywhere where he's said he didn't intend to fix whatever might need fixing.  Was just asking what might be Harley's latest iteration of an oil pump for when that fix happened.

There was concern and thought of the "foreigh matter' one of the first questions the dealer guys asked if I was using Haraley FilternI responded yes and also using Redline and Mobil V Twin 1. So if there was foreigh matter is gone now.

I was trying to see if they would provide me a new Oil Pump unit no charge through ESP, as mentioned they advised should still be OK,I still think I will get a new pump.

Shioes look really good no wear.

Checked part number of the Cam Plate and it is 25358-06, for a 2010 bullt sometime in 2009 does this seem old?

geezerglide

25358-06 is the casting number. 25355-06 is the part number. Introduced on the '06 Dyna.
25355-06A bushing-less version...on the scene in 2010 for the 2011 production.

As far as the pump goes, Don is right, investigate the problem.
Then go with a Thayer 3-stage. (sold by T-Man, R&R et al). Really shines in the crankcase scavenge department. Will let your 110 be the best it can be as far as the oil pump is concerned.
