Kuryakyn engine chrome
« on: November 10, 2011, 04:22:17 PM »

Was thinking of adding some chrome from the Kurakyn catalog. They make a transmission shroud, rear cylinder base cover, cylinder base cover and tappet block accent. I guess these are die-cast and chromed. Does anyone have any experience with these products? They look good, but will they last? Can you have too much chrome?
Opinions please.

To much of that stuff looks funky, Its just not the same as the hd products. Maybe a license plate frame or something small but i wouldnt use any of it on my bikes. Looks cheap to me-sorry :orange: :bananarock:

Got to agree, Genuine HD is better quality.
I have a Custom Chrome curved number plate frame that is sitting in my parts cabinet and not going to put it on my bike, face looks good but inside of frame is ordinary.

Most kury stuff looks cheap, plus you bought an expensive machine, why cover up the beautiful lines of the motor area. Using hottoppers on the bolt heads looks good but the machined parts of the engine show power and style.

Your advice is greatly appreciated. That is what I was thinking as well. One more question, please. What about the Harley inner primary cover in chrome? Worth doing, or again, just a little bit too much chrome?

Kuryakyn engine chrome is 100% better than HD. Chrome quality and design of parts are better no doubt. Can't speak for the rest of their stuff don't us it,

Gary I see something you need to put on your air wing horn cover...I had it on my nana with a little modification. It's the Screamin Eagle 103 medallion that goes on the Billet Air Cleaner cover. I ground down the back side and installed it on the horn cover. Looked great on the nana but would look better on the pumpkin! :2vrolijk_21:

I have the Kuryakyn fairing mount turn signal mirrors on the SEUC.  I think they look great, the chrome is excellent, and I get complements on them a lot.

That being said, I think that most of thier stuff is somewhat tacky.

Chrome Inner Primary Cover: No
Chrome Inner Primary: YES

I agree with the comments about covers adding too much flimsy looking bling.  I took of all covers I had initially put on my bike to go with real chrome components, like calipers, inner primary, starter, master cylinder, wheels, shifter linkage.  I ditched the cheezy looking cylinder base and tappet block covers, etc.  Engine trans. interface covers, etc. all took away from the class.  Like too much makeup on an already pretty lady.

Did go with chromed out hand controls though.
