Hi,

I ran the full Rinehart 4" system with performance baffles (I like loud throaty sound) on my 2010 FLHTCUSE.  I liked them a lot, but I have ran Rineharts on my last 2 bikes.  I just bought this bike from a member (2011 FLTRUSE) with 1,500 miles.  He has the full sac x pipe, stock mufflers with the 2.0 full sac baffles, and a TTS Mastertune system.  I was going to go with the D&D Fat Cat, but the more I look at them, I don't like the way they cover up the engine, plus in my opinion, the sound is loud and tinny....my opinion.  I know they are the best performance pipe for the 110's, but I am willing to go from best performance to good performance for look and sound.  Hands down, I think the CFR's have the greatest sound, but I know nothing about their performance ratings, and i hear they are a bugger to tune?  Anyone have CFR's with full sac head pipes and TTS?

Now that you know the sound I am looking for,  I am wide open to suggestions that will balance sound and performance.

Thanks

I know this is not what you want to hear but I would keep the Fullsac setup or maybe opt for the Fullsac 2.25 baffles.  With a Fullsac TTS map this is a winning combination!

That would be the most economical thats for sure!  The way I look at it, we spend all this money on bling and other stuff, yeah, performace is important to a certain level on a touring bike, but much like the effort and money we spend making the bike look the way we want, it should sound the way we want too!

You don't like the sound of the Fullsac 2" cores?  The 2.25" are louder, but no real difference in performance.  You can also remove the fiberglass packing around the baffles and change the sound to see if you like it.  The 2" are pretty loud when you get on the throttle, but not so loud at cruise that your ears ring at the end of the day.

I had Rineharts on my last 2 bikes with 2.5 baffles.  I liked them, but these CFR's have a very distinctive sound.   I may try and find a sound clip with the full sac 2.25 baffles?

For whatever reason I was not aware of the CFR's until after I got my V & H Hi-Outputs. The Hi-Outputs are loud and deep but the CFR's put a whole octive note deeper. NICE!

Plus they look great as well. Good Luck.

That's awesome we have a vendor for CFR's.   I have one big question. I heard that its really difficult to tune your bike because of the wide open design?  I love the sound, but I want consistent reliable performance.  I listened to the full sac 2.0, not bad but a little quieter than I like.

If you want loud, why don't you go with Vance and Hines Long Shots...they are plenty loud and have the "chopper" sound.  Most people that have them are pretty deaf by now, but hey, they're loud!!!  Or get Sampsons, they are loud mufflers too.

Loud saves lives.  Just like you picked the color of your bike, sound is important and personal too.  Title says sound & performance.  I love the sound of those CFR's

Then I'm kind of at a lost as to why your looking for suggestions then...sounds like you've made up your mind on the CFRs.  Nothing wrong with that, but no need to ask for suggestions if you've already made up your mind.  In my opinion, there's no better sounding pipes than the long shots, they are just way too loud for me, almost straight pipes with minimal baffles in them.

I need to listen to the long shots.  I also need to take into consideration any tuning problems that I may have (TTS)  If I remember correctly, I had a friend with a Heritage that had V&H straight pipes, assuming long shots.  They were so loud it was difficult to ride behind him.  I not looking for that loud.  YOU TUBE has sound clips.

They are definitely loud, that's for sure, but a lot of people have them on their rides, especially cruisers.  See if you can find someone that has Sampsons on their bike and see what you think of them, they tend to be louder than the mainstream mufflers out there today.

They are definitely loud.  If you want performance however, they wouldn't be my first choice.  Punctually they wouldn't even make my top 5. Unless loud is all you want?  Then go for it.

Thanks, I may just stay with the full sac set up and try the 2.25 baffles.  What I'm really looking for is the pros & cons on the CFR mufflers.  I think those are my first choice barring any real negative input
