International Motorcycle Show...San Mateo, Ca. 11.18.11
« on: November 20, 2011, 12:23:03 AM »

Terrie and I drove over to the bay area in the rain yesterday...stayed at the Best Western Coyote Point.

Several of the Nor Cal members from outside of the bay area decided to meet for breakfast this morning.  Found a place on San Mateo YELP that was rated #1 for breakfast in San Mateo.  None of us had been there before but we quickly learned why they are rated #1.  Nini's Coffee Shop, 1000 N. Idaho St. San Mateo, Ca. has a well deserved reputation.

Interestingly, we came from different directions and all arrived in a five minute period.  Talk about perfect timing.....

The place was already packed to standing room only.  We opted for seating on the back patio where they had several of those large outdoor heaters.  The patio quickly filled up also......like I said, they have a well deserved reputation.

The patio area definately has charichter.  And even though it was pretty cool out, the space heaters proved to be more than adequate....

and motorcycle friendly.....

and not so friendly to the hippies of days gone by.....

and definately bay area....

but as the sign says......"there are good eggs and there are bad eggs". ;D

and other oddities.....

Soon we made our way to the fair grounds where the motorcycle show has been held for a number of years....

Quiet as it's kept, Don has been known to carry a purse......he calls it a murse (man's purse). :huepfenlol2:

Like most motorcycle shows, it was very crowded all day long.

This thing is hanging off the trailer hitch of a goldwing trike....

and a Harley trike that put that goldwing to shame......

Check out the paint....

and I always thought it was just a figure of speech......but there really is a motorcycle club by this name...

and almost as soon as I snapped this pic, the table collapsed and all the free 5 Hr. Energy went straight to the floor.  Of course Don and I helped pick them up and we were rewarded with.............hand fulls of 5 Hr. Energy. :2vrolijk_21:

ol' school in front, new school in back.....

As we were all about ready to leave, Don was caught in the act of pilfering the Progressive Insurance shopping bags.  I think he intends to sell them for $ .50 each. :o

We spent quite a bit of time at the Gerbing Heated clothing booth.  Terrie and I booth bought the eXtreme Element (XE) jacket and pants.  We also talked at length to Jeff Gerbing.  A really nice guy.  He shared a couple of things with me and said that I was at liberty to share with all of you two very interesting things.

In the past, if you bought your Gerbing gear from a retailer and not directly from Gerbing, you had to have a receipt in order to get warranty work done on the item.  That's no longer the case.  Jeff learned about that and put a stop to it.  If his name is on it, it has a lifetime warranty......no receipt necessary regardless of who you bought it from! :2vrolijk_21:

I asked Jeff if he had any plans for a wireless temp. controller.  He said that there is, in fact, a remote controller in the works and will be available for release in Sept. 2012.  It is not like the competitors.  This controller is a four channel controller.  You'll be able to control different temp. levels on four different items (jacket, gloves, pants, boot insoles) at the same time.  And each channel will have a memory.  So if you set the jacket at 72F and the gloves at 76F, etc. the controller will remember that.  Sounds pretty interesting and of course, he was very excited about it just describing it to us. :2vrolijk_21:

We had a great day and always good to see friends.

There wasn't a Nolan booth there.  We all wanted to see the new Nolan N-104 in person.  Probably a good thing for Terrie and I that Nolan wasn't there since we left all of our $$ at the Gerbing booth.

By the way......all Gerbing items are now manufactured in the good ol' USofA......North Carolina!  Yes, the corporate office (and the Gerbing family home) is in Tumwater, Wash. but the new factory is in N.C.

Where in NC?
Sounds like a good destination ride.

I was there around 11:30, left at 2:00. Sorry I missed you guys. I spent all my money at the Chatterbox booth, got XBI2's for Tami and I.

Gerbing's factory will be in Stoneville, NC.

It was good to see everybody, Jeff and his family, Chris, Roger, Terrie, and JC.
