You'll never have a breakdown Mark.  All the karma and goodwill that free flow back downwind from that most excellent front fender keep all the bike behind it too mellow to ever lay down.  It'll just run and run and run...

Amen to that John.  Sometimes I try to keep spare beverages and food there too.  But they never last....  :nixweiss:

I add a small can of Ballistol spray - and 1 indicator bulb, because in Czech Republic they fine you heavily if you don't carry at least one spare on any bike or car  ::)

Don - crank and speedo sensor, you find these to be an issue? I don't recall knowing anyone that has had one fail, but they are just electrical items. If either fail, will the bike run?

I carry plugs, because you always seem to have some laying around. Never needed them since getting a modern day bike.
Every day riding has the lightly modified tool kit, plugs, zip ties and spare fuses. On trips I carry a quart of oil, headlight bulb (after riding for 2 hours one night with just the side lamps). Also on trips I carry a tire plug kit with the CO2 and "spark plug hole" inflator kit.

Do see crank sensors fail occasionally.  They can also fail without throwing a code and seem to fail "progressively" getting worse before doing so entirely.  So they're often initially misdiagnosed.  Since they're an easy fix, will leave you stranded and do occasionally fail it's a part I'll keep.

Have also seen occasional failure of speedo sensors.  Honestly I'd not carry that but for two reasons.  First is the obvious.  It's an easy to change part.  Second has nothing to do with it stranding you but with me being lazy anymore.  It won't strand you if it fails.  But the cruise control won't work.  If I can spend a half hour in a nice shady rest area to have cruise control for a thousand mile ride home it's worth the effort.

Top 10 list of what I carry on my bike:

1.  Hairbrush
2.  Harley tool bag
3.  Owner's manual
4.  Bifocal's to read owner's manual
5.  Harley road map book
6.  Couple bungee cords
7.  Bug slide spray
8.  1/2 dozen micro fiber towels
9.  Chewing gum/Chapstick
10.  Cell phone

If I need to do anything more cause of a breakdown, I call the nearest Harley store.  Yes, I did that once in Tennessee when I had a flat tire.  I ran over a discarded road spike that was left on the road from the last Mayberry chasing a runner.   :P

What, no saddle lube or belt glaze remover?

This is useful if you have to visit a Harley dealer unexpectedly due to a mechanical failure while on a trip.   :nixweiss:
