MOCO quality control is really laxed!
« on: November 29, 2011, 07:32:11 PM »

Day off today & took a ride to Daytona. We stopped @ Rossmeyers to check out any new CVO's. Right as we walked in the door is a new 2012 Wicked Sapphire & Stardust Silver CUSE7. Great looking bike! We talked to the salesman & the price is $40,000 but the real kicker was he showed me the side panels. The left side was off a white gold & black CVO Road Glide. The side panel is on order!

This bike should be sitting in the back room until the right parts are installed. $40,000 for a slapped together bike! It's hard telling what else is mismatched on this bike.

I may have mentioned this before but back in the 80s a guy I worked with bought a new GMC pickup.  After having it about a week someone asked him if he had a GMC or a Chevy.  A GMC he said.  Then why does the tailgate say Chevrolet!

Maybe some of those folks now work at the moco.   ;D

Chevy and GMC used to roll off the same assembly line where every forth one was a GMC. I worked for Chevy and GMC at one time and saw a few mismatched cosmetic items on trucks including tailgate on gmc with Chevrolet on it. Makes you wonder

That extra $2,800 above list is what due to the bike being customized...one of a kind you know... :nixweiss:

About five or six years ago.  Look in the mirror if you want to see part of it.

Maybe we should email this to the CEO, seeing as is trying to improve
his products image? He did tell the dealers at a dealer meeting that
THEY had to improve products customer service, seeing as the motorcycles
were a premium product!

No one that has been riding Harleys for more than a few years should be shocked by this topic! I've been buying these things since the mid 70's, have had my share of troubled bikes, more than not actually.  Everytime I think I could live without one, I end up buying another.

I remember when AMF / Voit bought out H-D, and they had "drip cloths" on the showroom floor under the bikes. Seems like the wiring in the rear fender was constantly getting pulled loose or shorting out.

I concede that the other day we pulled a H-D luggage rack out of the sealed box and the chrome plating was peeling off the stock.

But what H-D really needs to work on is their WEB SITE. If you type in "Passenger Grip Rail" instead of "Passenger Grab Rail" you don't get the product listing. "Crash Rail" turns up nothing; H-D wants it called an "engine guard." I searched "windshields" and they were listing 123 pages of "shields" for everything from oil hoses and covers to wheel nut covers.

Sad part is that those who have had so many bad experiences keep on buying them anyway, so H-D management has no incentive to do anything better.  It's the same situation that existed for a long time in the auto industry, until enough people got fed up and stopped buying certain brands, but so far Harley has been sliding by.  Once the current generations of customers hang up the riding boots, I have a feeling Harley with will have to rely on their Chinese and Indian markets for sales.  Those folks still have very low expectations, so Harley should do well there.
