CVO -- "Custom Vehicle Operations"

And so, I have yet to see any H-D on the road that is not "custom" in some form or another.

Does "custom color paint" make it a CVO? I have "Denim Black" -- which is a custom color name for "flat-black primer."

SE 2 into 1 Nightstick and SE Stage I intake, K&N

7" LED headlight.

Digital oil stick.

Custom grips.

Windsplitter 10" windshield. 4" and 7" inch dark tinted windshield

Tri-Pocket Windshield/fairing storage

Willie G hwy. pegs on custom mounts.

Passenger Grab Rails

Street Glide pattern adj. backrest.

SG pattern passenger backrest on medium sissy bar.

4 pt. accessory mount.

Luggage rack

H-D Road Zeppelin seat

H-D knurled billet seat screw fastener

Tank Bra

Skull & Bones chrome license plate frame

Tri bar rear fender lighting.

I think ABS and Cruise Control are options, not standard equipment.

And so . . . "CVO" ? Since I have the SE Stage I, is my bike a FLHX or FLHXSE ? I don't think I've ever seen one roll off the sales floor that hadn't added something to the package.

I don't get it.

And yeah, I'm serious about this question. When is a CVO a CVO, and when is someone's ride w/ some "dialing in" a "custom" as compared to a [putative] "CVO" ?

Technically it's a titled designation.  Defined within the VIN.  A bike either very specifically is or is not a CVO model.  There's no in between.  Shades of gray distinctions by those with (putative) interest in whether or not their non-CVO bike is really CVO-esque is.... well...   not a novel approach.

Yeah, and H-D has figured out a way to paint stuff gloss black instead of the more expensive chrome plating, claiming "black is the new chrome" -- and charge the same price for it.

So, what's H-D going to charge me to get CVO on the title?

I don't get the cowbell reference.

Plus an additional $5 for your own cow bell, about $8 more if you want a really nice one!

Bottom line is .... if it has a CVO vin from the factory it is a CVO  :2vrolijk_21:  If it has a non CVO vin but you have sunk a ton of money on upgrades and aftermarket parts... Its prolly a great looking ride that turns a lot of heads but still not a CVO :nixweiss:  :drink:

Actually, black is the new fad, chrome is the new chrome.

Reminds me when I had mt '69 Z28.  A regular Camaro is nice but it was no z28   No matter what, and I've seen it trying to be done, it's still not a cvo. Cheaper to just buy one than trying to make one yourself too.  It's all in the vin.  Not the wrist this time.  :)
