96 Inch TC & "Haulin' Freight"
« on: December 05, 2011, 01:23:39 AM »

Yeah, and once upon a time I had a high-maintenance girlfriend too. There's much to be said for not being high-strung and high-maintenance.

2010 FLHX (Surprise!) -- 96 in. engine, SE Stage I intake, K&N (like blowing your nose!), and 2 into 1 Nightstick exhaust. I added a digital temp/oil level dipstick, just because it seemed like a good idea. Then engine, even in streakin' hot weather, runs about 240F at the high end. Plenty of power, ample torque, good acceleration. I get a nice smooth power band from about 3K up to whatever (where I never go). Decent mileage, idles smoothly.

I tour on this bike. Rarely do I run less than 100 miles on any ride. Much of the time we're topping 500 miles, 700 miles in a day. One up, w/ luggage for camping on the road. I'm "haulin' freight" -- not racing or squirrlin' . . .

The 96 in. engine runs no cats -- that helps keep it cool. It's reliable as hell, and not going to burn out early because it's over-bored, over compressed, running lean fuel.

Like comfortable old shoes, a nice ride that I don't need to fuss over.

With a 2 into 1 replacement exhaust system, no, you don't have a Cat.

But, you don't mention whether the bike has been tuned or had something done to richen the A/F mixture up a bit since the exhaust and A/C were installed.  If nothing has been done, you're running lean....VERY lean.  From previous posts, I assume you did not buy the bike new.  Do you have any idea if the bike has been tuned?

TC, you're making the assumption he really has a bike.

Maybe you should spend some time on the site before you post anything that comes to mind.  It's like going to a pub in Scotland thinking you like to drink beer.  A lot of bright minds with some sarcastic humor that makes for easy prey !:nixweiss:

Hope not Scott   He's the closest thing we've had to MFG in a long time.   We need a medicine ball to bang around occasionally.   So hopefully he won't get booted or bail that soon.

Lot of "A's" there Donny boy.

MFG - was that the Kentucky dude?

That's about the sternest I've seen Obi Wan - and I'm sure that's not grammatically correct, but who else cares?
