Sounds like a great product to me! no more pumping dirty old oil into a fresh filter. For 20 bucks I rekon everyone who changes their own oil should own one. A new oil filter with new clean oil going straight into it has got to be a lot better than the first few ounces being the left over dirty old oil you just dumped!

I'm going to order one!

Friend of mine had a dvd advertisement of another brand, very similar in action, and it was amazing the amount of dirty oil still in the engine.  But the one he was looking at (and I can't remember which it was) cost close to $100. It was made of metal, though.  For $20 it sounds like worth a try.
Let us know!

Scavenger... yeah, that's the one..thanks Jerry.  My friend got a dvd showing the procedure, and suddenly I feel less anal! There's about a quart that isn't being changed.  Of course, the bikes they demo'ed had some pretty dirty oil, but it sure showed what's up.    Friend was seriously thinking of buying the 'Scavenger' (he IS anal).

Seems to make sense...  crank supposedly holds 4 qts. Did you ever put a full 4 qts back in during a change? Manual says put in 3 1/2 qts, then run... etc.  I had an 'indy' (not the stealer) do oil change... got home and checked level... way over-full. When I asked, he said "We put the full amount in...it'll level itself out."  ahole.  I took out at least a half-quart. So, I figger these things have some merit  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  (BTW, last oil change in wife's bike AT THE STEALER was spot-on.)  I'm so confused :-/

Mine may be even more victimized by the large amount of potential left overs too.  Its "happy point" is at about a half quart low anyway.  Fill it higher than that and it'll push it out.  Once there it doesn't complain anymore.   So at oil changes that's as far as it ever gets filled.

Mine has been that way from the first few hundred miles Garz.  It left the dealership full.  At 2 tanks full of gas ws down a half quart with me having a wiped a bit of oil away in a few placed.  Topped it off just to see if things weren't seated or if it'd continue to blow.  At about 600 down a half quart again.  Half quart low is where it loves though.

With the Amsoil synthetic I change oil at 5k intervals.  It goes from it's normal half quart low to a full quart low at between 3500 and 4000 miles.  I'll add another half quart then to take it back to it's normal half quart low lifestyle and it's good until the oil change.

In and of itself that's not that unusual of a behavior though.  In cars and bikes I've had engines for years that seemed to find their own happy place.  Slight differences in crankcase venting or god knows what else accounts for it sometimes.  As long as the overall volume is satisfactory and there in face is no excessive consumption beyond the happy place it's just no big deal though.  Even the slightly lower overall volume is made much less of an issue by the use of the good synthetic.  The extra temp range the oil can survive will likely never come in to play in normal driving.  But it's slightly more likely too with 10-12% less oil than it would be otherwise.

You know looking at thsi product it really doesn't look too bad, BUT I have one question(I didn't read the article) How long do you let the motor run while it is getting NO OIL SUPPLY?? It  may only take a few seconds to push the dirty oil out of the sump but while you are pumping the dirty oil out your engine again it gets no oil supply.

Mike, I, um... well.... didn't read the article either.  So being equally uneducated I had it in my head that I'd pull spark plugs and just let it spin on the starter.
