I just got an appointment scheduled with my dealership...they haven't done one yet and aren't sure how long the inspection will take { it is just a light; but...} so... we'll see [there are advantages to being a late comer to the OCD world] ;D

Just a little FYI for anybody wiring this up for themselves.
If one were to take the connector of the wiring harness to the tourpak lights apart and assembled the two wires backwards, (there are a black and an orange/red wire).
  This would blow the fuse.
If one were to try to find that little devil in the fuse block, they would find that it would not be fused through the fuse block.
Take a look in the FLHT service manual and that wiring assy is nowhere. All that shows in the service manual is the 3 wire connector for the tourpak tail and stop lamps.
Look in the SEEG service suppliment and you WILL find the harness for the tourpak light AND you will notice that it has a 2 amp blade fuse, in line and that the fuse is located in the wiring in the frame hole in front of the battery.
I'm not saying that this happened you understand, just that IF it happened this would be good to know.

Yeap, the entire thing is an accessory kit actually.  Fuse is simple to find once you know it's there.  Popped mine once.  Pulled of the saddlebag and side cover, yanked out the fuse panel, grabbed the test light, no blown fuses.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Scratched head, scratched butt, uttered a foul oath, grabbed parts manual; voila  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

Another handy FYI, the intermediate harness with the fuse in it comes from the battery to a spot behind the battery on the rear fender.  Connector there that the light harness itself actually plugs in to.  So that connector has both unswitched power and a ground.  If you've got other things in the tour pak (side lights, spoiler, whatever) you can take your unswitched power from there to make in to a single harness with the other needs so you've only got one plug going in to the tour pak.

My battery went dead once unexpectantly, remember where someone else had this problem about the light staying on, and sure enough my light was on once battery charger hooked up.  Advised dealer and they intstalled the LED light which hooked up directly to battery with it's own fuse.  The wiring has the quick disconnects for the saddlebag LED's if I would decide to purchase.  The information on this board is GREAT!  Many thanks to all.

Just received a call from the friendly service manager..... seems the first step for technician is to "tap" the bulb housing.  If the light flickers; you get a new light..if no flicker; the recall doesnt apply....  so, he asked if i wouldn't mind playing the "home version" and tapping on the b*&ch and see what happens

HUH :-/ :-?

Hey, I went out to the garage and flicked my light.  [smiley=nixweiss.gif] It does not flicker at all, [smiley=nixweiss.gif]   but it also does not come one either.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Maybe it is part of the recall?  You think?  ;D
This sounds like advice I'd offer.... and all who know me, know I don't know much about the mechanics of these things.

[highlight]Several others had the same problem last year[/highlight] with the light not turning off when you closed the Tour Pak and finding a dead battery.
My problem was that my light would not turn on.  I took it to the dealer and the service tech came out and did the flick test.  Well my light flicked, so they ordered a LED replacement.  After the flick test my light too failed to turn off.  I went to leave the next morning and my battery was completely dead.  I haven't had any problems since I had the LED pushbutton light installed [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif].

Took mine in for a regular servicing today. I showed them my letter and He said " Yeah, We can replace that." They are also taking care of the problem of oil coming out of the air filter that started just before I left for Cripple Creek. They are putting on a new oil pump and a different sort of crankcase breather. He said that this is the third 103 Screamin eagle bike that he has had to do this to. He said that the oil pump is usually quite pitted. It still holds very good oil pressure, but I guess he knows what he is talking about. He says that I should get the bike back by Saturday, but I'm not holding my breath.

If they are putting in a new oil pump you may want to check to see if you can pay the difference and get a Feuling instead. Much better pressure at idle. JMHO.

I got my letter yesterday.  I had trouble with the light from day one and after two trips to the dealership with them trying to figure out what was causing the battery to go dead, I figured it out myself.  The first replacement was the old style light and it did the same thing.  The second replacement was with the new style LED and I've not had a problem since.  I think anyone with the old style light shouldn't have a problem having it replaced under the recall.
