Engine Idle Management system
« on: December 14, 2011, 07:41:33 AM »

Do most people run there idle temperature enabled so the back cylinder cuts off at 287 degrees or they leave it Disabled so it is not active under any conditions?????   Just trying to think what is best for my engine and my riding Condition. I do very little town driving most of my riding is back rodes or interstate riding. I have  only run mine Disabled  not cutting back cylinder off , just wanting to now the best way to have it set on and how most people set theres.

Living in Toasty Arizona I never run IdleTemp rear cyl cutout. The key is opening up the intake and exaust plus a good tune. Riding the bike helps cool things down over a period of time. :2vrolijk_21:

I have mine enabled. Sometimes I get stuck in traffic and welcome any way to assist in cooling the engine.

With the exhaust opened up on 2011.5 BIG BLUE, I have never had it go off on rear cylinder drop out...

That is a Cat Gutted stock exhaust manifold cleaned out and Monster Ovals low pressure mufflers...  And we are in summer now, never had it go off even in traffic.

It may be the cleaned out exhaust is the issue...     :2vrolijk_21:

Look at it this way...it doesn't hurt anything for it to be enabled, and is extra insurance against extreme overheating, letting you know that you either need to turn the bike off, or try and pick an alternate route to get moving again.
