I am no expert but I had the same problem, This problem can be fixed with a good tune.

Yes , until you get it tuned your going to have slow acc. whats going to help more is to get the cat out then you will run cooler and have more power, Fullsac 2.0 baffles in mufflers, then you can run with the big Dogs.

Congratulations on your new ride.
The TBW has a bit of lag. A tuner like the TTS or SEPST will fix that. The throttle by wire is not 1 to 1 from the factory. A good map and tuner will get it in the ballpark and it will run so much better. You will have to have a tuner if you change anything like exhaust or air cleaner. It is a shame that it comes from the factory like this. Some run ok and some do not. My new FLHXSE2 ran like crap till I put the SEPST on it.
 Good luck and enjoy.

IMHO - none of my 3 HDs (2 TC96, and a 110) were broke in until well after 5K miles.  When I traded my 08 FLHTCU on the SEUC, my original impression was "did I make a mistake?".  The engine sounded like it was going to fly apart under me.  The throttle response wasn't what I thought it should be - remember I was going from FBW to FBW.  There was a noticeable difference after 1K, but the biggest difference between 1K and 5K.  Got to ride my '08 as a loaner a couple of weeks back.  The guy that bought it traded it back in.  That was a good reality check, and I was glad to get my SEUC5 back.

Break the bike in well before making lots of modifications.  My advice anyway.  :soapbox:

Power Commander V will also correct TBW lag as well as the tuners already mentioned. IMO it will not get better with more miles and can put you in a dangerous/tricky situation. I.E. trying to turn across traffic, you have lag plus to much clutch, kill motor, possibly stop/turn over in the middle of the lane and soccer mom in hugh SUV and well...you get my point. When I turn the wick I want it to GO, not have to wait 1 or 2 seconds!

I usually run the bike stock for the first 800-1000 miles, then do your mods. As stated before a good tuner will fix the throttle lag. That delay is set in the ECM and no amount of break in miles in going to take that out.

A lesson I learned as well. $36-40K for a Harley does NOT get you a good running motorcycle! But another few thousands and she will be fantastic.
