J&M Amp Install
« on: December 29, 2011, 02:06:38 AM »

I'm upgrading the amp/speakers on my 2011 CVO Street Glide. I'm using the J&M 250W amp and Rokker speakers. The mounting of all the components went fine but the wiring not so much. The major issue is the CVO comes with a factory amp and it's connected to the radio via a factory harness. The J&M amp inputs have spade connectors (I'm thinking the non-cvo models use this kind of connection) so connecting the CVO radio to the amp means cutting the harness I think. Has anyone else installed the J&M and if so, how did you connect it up?

DavidG, send a PM to TIF2 (Rich) with your phone number and he'll help you.

gabe, do the same (i.e. send PM to Rich) and he'll steer you straight.

Well it turns out I had to t-tap into the output wires of the HK radio. Installed it that way with the stock lower speakers in series with the new Rokkers. It works really well. It seems to have fixed the engine rattling noise too.  ;D

DavidG, glad you got it all hooked-up.  As for the T-taps, PM TIF2 and he can provide the the info on the HD OEM connectors HD uses for the speakers.  They'll mate with the OEM fairing speaker wiring connectors and allow you to eliminate the T-taps if you choose to do so.

Again, congrats on your installation.
