Oil rings on SE 4.060 pistons
« on: December 31, 2011, 10:45:01 AM »

Is anyone else thinking the oil ring set on these pistons are a bear to get installed in the cyl? My Snap-On ring compressor set will not hold then snug enough to allow the cyl to slide on like 88 thru 110 cylinders. I finally took the pistons off the rods and installed in the cyl on the bench and then installed them on the rods but I have always disliked doing it that way. The ring expander is hard to keep butted up too and not overlap. In other words this was my 1st experience with them and it was a PIA for me. I have done hundreds of the others from QA-50's on up and never had this much frustration.

Thanks just venting.
