I get really bad static in the speakers almost al the time.

In a quiet environment, I can hear "static" from my speakers if the volume is turned all the way off.

I'll have to experiment disconnecting the saddlebags to see if anything changes.

With all the wires and connections, it wouldn't surprise me that a bad wire connection would be causing it.

I would like to think that it is a bad connection but the bike is brand new. Now when I say static, I mean reception loss static and very noticeable.. Now im wondering because the antenna is on the same side?? Im going to try a shorty under the fairing and see if that changes anything.

The internal fairing antenna is usually not as good as the original factory antenna when it comes to reception........sure it looks better, but the stock one will out perform it. it sounds like you have a connection issue back there.

You probably know this but:  You don't say what bike and whether this is a stock system.  If the antenna runs right by the amp and is not shielded, the amp may interfere with the antenna causing poor reception and static.  Improper grounding of either will also cause noise or signal loss.  Good luck.

My apologies, like I said im new, please bear with me. It is a 2012 FLHXSE. All speakers or all stock stuff is in there. the dealer is trying to sell me the HD powered hidden antenna. I know from car stuff if the amp isnt a good quality shield type it gives some good static to the electronics. Im getting pissed now.Shouldnt be like this!!!

My 2011 does it too. Volume all the way down, in a quiet environment. Very easy to hear. Dont hold your breath, but if that is as bad as it gets for you with the stock system, your doing alright bud. There's guys on here that are down to their last hair trying to figure out audio problems, and that's still with the 2011's!

I had a similar situation and I found the wire harness to the amp was not seated properly. It looked seated but was not. After properly seated, static is gone. Worth a look.

Im goin at it hard today, gonna wrap evrything in shielding tape after i look at the harness connections. Im thinking shielding the inside of the bag and the harness. I dont feel so bad knowing there are other out there with worse problems. Still sucks for all of us tho.
