Another 06 SE Fatboy owner
« on: July 07, 2006, 03:41:47 PM »

Pick it up tomorrow.  I got the autumn haze and am totally stoked.  Expect for me to start asking lots of stupid questions in the near future.  I am old school and will run the bike in stock for 1,000 miles.

This is my 3rd Fatboy in a row...

Tacoma,
Welcome to the site. Congrats on the new ride. When you mentioned leaving it stock for the first 1K I'm sure you are just speaking of the motor. If not you're going to be in trouble here because it's hard to not fall prey to the "OCD" addiction here. ;D

yup!  When I mean stock, I mean leaving the stock pipes on.   I swapped out my SE 2/1 pipes from my 03 and have the stock pipes on (OK before the trade).  My 03 Fatboy now sounds like a very powerful Singer machine.

Will the SE 2/1 fit my new bike.  My buddies think because of the 200 rear, it will not go.   With the pipes, will I need a PC or flash or can I leave it AS IS.  I read a little and will change out to the KN air filter.

My wife has the exact same bike.....Love the color...Hope you put on that first 1000 fast because it would be hard for me to keep it stock too long......Enjoy!!!

Welxome to the site!! My advise will be to go on a 1000 mile trip since the bike really becomes better when those stock pipes go away.Enjoy your new ride! [smiley=worthless.gif]

picked up my new machine today.   Out with the old and in with the new.  Sad to see the 03 go and very wierd to see the Sales Manager climb on and ride it into the shop.

Right off the bat, we left the dealership and went into a long loop corner.  So I was nervous to see how the bike would handle in the corner.  Man, it handles much better than the 03.   Sits firmer on the road but not as plush as the 03.   Wierd riding with stock pipes.  Feels like I am on a giant sewing machine.
