I bought the billet starter end cover and it didn't fit, don't we have the high-performance starter they list as the part not fitting?

Hmmm, that's funny. :o When I did search for those parts I did it under shop for my bike and put in 2006 FLHTCUSE. As for the Billet parts I can't testify to those, but I did use the Chrome Starter Solenoid Cover Kit on my '04 [smiley=pumpkin.gif]. Sorry for any confusion.

I found it difficult to start mine with just he clutch pulled. I always put it in neutral and pull the clutch before starting.

Yep, neutral is the way to go for sure.

No problem at all d00d, it may just be my lack of mechanical ability.  The billet cover had a screw in the center and my starter doesn't have one.  It looked like it would fit fine on the RK but danged if I could figure out how it would fit on the SEEG or the SEUC.

Tbone,

The billet end cover won't fit with the 1.4 kW starter, which comes stock on the SEEG2 and SEUC.  The other covers (solenoid) listed don't make that distinction.  Looks like if we want chrome, we have to spring for the entire starter, unless the aftermarket makes a cover that fits????

If you think about it, what happens after you start your bike and then put it in gear?  Big crunch, due to the clutch dragging (btw - you can eliminate that by pulling the clutch in, rev the engine to break the clutch plates loose, then wait about 5 to 10 seconds for the trans gears to slow down before putting it in gear).  If you try to start the bike in gear and just pull the clutch, it is still dragging so you are putting additional load on the starter.  I only start in gear if I manage to stall the engine and need to get moving pronto - otherwise, neutral is the only way to go.

That's what I get for not reading the fine print, and trusting the MoCo would know what parts were specific to what bike. Then when you wanted to shop for your specific bike they wouldn't say a part would fit, and then in the fine print say it will not because you have a certain part on your bike from stock.

Take a look at 31724-98.  It doesn't have the fitment distinction and is a good looking piece also.

EglideGoodies now has this cover available http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id162.html   .   If any one orders, just remember it is hard if not impossible to return items so ask a lot of questions before ordering.  I simply have the chrome starter soloenoid end cap cover that looks like the black one I took off.
