Ultimate Stealth Chrome
« on: July 07, 2006, 11:29:17 PM »

Tonight I was at the local HOG meeting and there was a guy there that went down a few weeks back. He messed up his sholder pretty bad. It snaped the ball off of the bone. He was bragging that they replaced it with a chrome one. I guess I should of invited him to the site.

Hmmm. Speaking of that when I get my hip replaced with titanium one will that be considered "stealth" also? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Where is SEULTRA when you need him. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Hey d00d!

I can relate to that!  Have one in my hand.  Even chrome you can't see is STILL CHROME!  Hope it goes as well for you as mine.  Like it isn't even there...'Cept for these "minor" scars...

Me too, I'm sure I need one sooner or later, just holding out as long as possible.

d00d, do you have one of these, speaking of stealth............Detachable Seat Hardware Kit, not even visible under tour pak, perfectly stealth.

I've been holding out probably longer then I should've. Going to see doctor next week and going to mention to him that pain/quality of life is getting to the point that something has to be done. I'm thinking and going to mention to him that maybe Dec/Jan I take the plunge and go under the knife. This will be a good time since there is not much riding to do here in winter months, and I will not have to see/hear about all the stuff I'm missing out on. I've had a couple of friends have the procedure done and they swear by it, in fact one is considering going to have his other hip done. The only thing that I'm not looking forward to is not being able to go and come as a please and not working. Not that I'm a workaholic (ok, maybe I am to a certain degree I do have three jobs), it's just that I don't like sitting around all day doing nothing. Besides none of my jobs are labor intensive for 8 hours at a time, so they are not that bad.

I don't have that thumbscrew thing you mentioned, and never thought about it. I don't leave my tourpak on all the time. When I do use it for traveling I normal take it off when I arrive at destination and don't put it back on until I'm ready to return home. I just like the "draggin bagger" look. Because of tourpak not staying on all the time the only concern I would have w/using the thumbscrew is somebody walking along unscrewing it and walking off w/seat. I do still have the stock seat on my scooter, and can't imagine anyone wanting it, but you never know. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I know the holding off feeling.  Mine doesn't bother me too much and not all the time.  I had trouble riding for a while but once I did some stretching exercise and rode some that was resoved so it wasn't as much the hip as lack of exercise.

You know that if someone stole the stock one you could get the insurance to buy a new custom fit look alike.  (or another stock one).

Just a thought.  Trying to help the OCD...........

Either that or you are reading my mind. [smiley=nervous.gif] I was just thinking when I read your prior post that I hadn't had the seat off in a while to clean up under it. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Come on now; tell me you don't take the seat off at times to clean under it??? [smiley=confused5.gif]

Ok, say you have to remove seat for some maintenance. You don't take advantage of that opportunity and clean under it while it's off? [smiley=bath.gif]

Why do I feel like I'm going to be hung out to dry on this. [smiley=zHole.gif]

Ok. I'll be the first to admit I do get a little anal when it comes to cleaning in case no one has noticed. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Ok Gary.  I'll fess up here.  Whenever the seat is off for maintenance of any kind that area gets cleaned up.  Only rarely pull it just for cleaning though.   Only if things have gotten pretty messy I guess.  But, yeah, it does get done.  I certainly don't have the degree of dedication that you do to keeping the bike spotless and gorgeous though.  But here's a question for you?

As part of your "spring cleaning" to get things really good for the beginning of the spring does your clean up include pulling the tank so you can really get at everything and make the rocker boxes shine all over and really make that engine look good and everything around it?

Chit, you got me. :o I haven't done that yet. Only reason I haven't is I don't feel comfortable enough taking tank off (main reason I have a set of Orange SE Plug Wires needing to be installed). Once I can see it in person how the tank is removed I will probably step out the box and try it on my own. I was told installing wires wouldn't even require removal of the tank, just remove back screw, loosen the front ones, raise tank and put some wood under it to keep it up and replace plug wire. I just have this fear of messing up a very nice looking/expensive paint job on tank. [smiley=nervous.gif] I do however get my hand as far back as humanly possible to clean the top of the rocker boxes whenever I wash it.

Plug wires on our bikes are a real pain in the arse.  Tank is easy on an off though.  Almost not worth the hassle fighting the wood and other stuff not to just pull it and clean up underneath  ;D .

If you've not gotten a hands on walk through of yanking a tank before MV we'll do it then.  You'll be cleaning areas you never got to before in no time  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] .

2Ln, maybe d00d can put on a "detail" clinic while you show him how to remove the tank.

d00d, remember you can get to all of that dirt under your seat much easier with the "Detachable Seat Hardware Kit" [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Now sounds like I'm going to be washing my boxers in the sink every night. :o Not going to have room for clean ones in saddlebags/tourpak because of cleaning gear, new parts (plug wires) that will have to be packed now. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

The "Detail 101" clinic was added to the schedule when I announced I was making the trip. You sure you don't have a business trip in that area during that time, and need to have your bike (you could always ship it here, and back). Hint, hint!! ;D Now that I'm going to be able to get the tank off that Detachable Seat Hardware Kit might have to become a reality. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
