New Bikes At-Above-or below MSRP?
« on: January 06, 2012, 09:26:36 PM »

I have been looking around the area for a new bike. I found it interesting that one dealer was pretty matter-of-fact that he would sell me a bike (any model) for $1,000 above retail and was proud that he would even sell a CVO for that. So happens that my CVO would trade for $1,500 LESS that book. WOW what a deal! Just like old times! How do thes dealers stay in business in this economy? I'll just go elswhere but apparently people buy from these guys!
What are you seeing around the country?
Oh, I said he was gougin, MSRP was a fair profit. He countered it was market adjustment, and that $5,000 was gouging. I'll slide my market adjustment a$$ down the road to another market!!

Got my 2010 SESG back in late 09 for $1,500 below MSRP.  Jonga got the same deal on his 2010 SEUC at the same dealership.  We had to travel 150 miles to get that deal.

There are deals out there......just have to look for them. :2vrolijk_21:

You are all lucky guys
Here in Europe the price of Harley are way above your price, imagine I bought a new 2012 CVO street Glide for the price of 33000 Euros, this is equal to 42000 US dollars. Here in Europe dealers take the same price in dollars and only change the currency unit. So the sign of $ become €, They don't do any rate conversion between the dollars and the euro.
So, you are really in heaven guys.

I bought a 2011 road glide ultra cvo in novemberof 2011. my local dealer said he would come down $999 but he was getting the bike from another dealer. so I called the other dealer and over the phone offered $33,000 out the door. the bike was listed at $36999.00 he said no he couldn't do that. so i told him to ask the owner what he would take they called back and said $34000.00 out the door. tax title and license i bought it right away. they even thru the 1000 mile check in for free.so i bought the bike for $31800 and saved about $4600. there is a $5000 mark up on cvo i was told by a friend that owns a dealership. but he even said he could not touch that price. my local dealer said he had never heard of a cvo selling so cheap. then i found this web site and found out that they only made 346 bikes in my color ivory and vintage brown.

I bought a 2012 SERG 3 weeks ago for 29500.00 out the door. Thats a savings of about 2000.00 from my local dealer. He sells at msrp on all bikes and is still willing to deal with you if you make a counter offer. Was not like this a few years ago. With the economy down like it is there are plenty of dealers willing to make a deal. They can not stay in bussiness if the don't sell bikes. Most dealers can't count on service to carry them. They have let that part of the bussiness go to hell and people have found independant shops for servicing.

Wow !,  you guys are better than me.   I started looking for a 2012 sesg3 and there was only one in the whole state and the dealer kind of knew it. Other dealers wanted to trade him for this one, but he wouldn't ket it go. I found out who had it and I called them.  They took msrp and a little for set up and fright.  That was about $600 and it wa a done deal. A nice ride home and a big smile later. I was okay with that.

I buy several CVOs each year.  I pay straight MSRP, no freight/setup, free first service, extended warranty at dealer cost, 25% permanent standing discount on all P&A items (including painted parts) and apparel, free baseline dyno run, free H-D front wheel chock, free battery tender leads installed.

Are you starting a CVO museum?  Why do you have so many?   :nixweiss:  Or is it "just because you can" ?

Clink on above link.  Look at the CVO markup.  The dealer is doing just fine.
