Another pipe question :  SE 2/1 tuneables
« on: July 08, 2006, 12:54:27 AM »

When I traded in my 03 Fatboy, I pulled the SE 2/1 tuneables since I really like them and the Dealer was OK with it.  Will this fit my 06 SE Fatboy?  Is anyone here running these pipes?   Did you need to reflash or use SERT or PC?   Seems like most of us here are going with SERT which I heard is more difficult to tune than the PC.

Help!

As far as the fit goes I don't think they changed anything from 03 to 06 in reference to the exhaust. I believe from "90" up is all the same.

My 1st pipes on my 03 Fatboy were T-headers.  Man, they were way too loud.  So I changed to these SE 2/1 since I could tune the noise.  I do like them but will admit, the sound could be better.

Right now, I am leaning towards re-using my SE 2/1 or trying either the Rinehart 2/1 or SE II mufflers.

I just need to do my reasearch and see how louds the Rineharts are.

Which SE 2:1?

The one with plate packs or the PRO 2:1?

It's the one with the disks where I can add or take off to adjust sound.

Just another thing to consider NE-Tacoma06Fatboy: if your 03 fatboy was an 88ci the 103ci in your new bike with the same pipes will be louder.

I can attest to this as I heard the Rinehart staggards on an 88b motor before taking delivery of my 05 sefb and was surprised just how much different the sound was.

that is the beauty of the tuneables.  I was running 24 disks on the 03 and if it is loud, I just take disk out.

I am just not sure if the 00-05 will fit on the 06 SE models since we have the wider tires on the back.

Anyone know the answer to this?   I just want to avoid pulling the stock pipes to see if the 03 pipes will go in.

To the best of my knowledge the "wide" tire didn't change anything width wise other than the width of the frame horns (Deuce width now). How you can check this is look at the chrome arm for an 06. Is it the same part number for the 05?

The only problem with that is the 103 needs to breath and restricting the flow from what the 88ci needs is counter productive. I can see your point though if you want to get the bike to meet your preferences in sound. I have a freind with a 124 and White brothers mufflers and it does sound pretty good but not too loud.

BTW the 06 sefb's use the same pipes that the 05's did so your pipes should fit fine as their is ample clearance for the swingarm.

whew!   good to know.  Dealer let me pull them off the 03 and I just figured, worse scenario I sell them and get some money back.  Last thing I want is a pipe that is too loud as I do tour a bit even tho it is a Fatboy.  My other choice would have been the SE II mufflers.

I just love that I found a CVO site...

I offer my strictly amateur opinion on a few items that are suggested here:
The SE pipe will work and in the stock trim the 103 will be able to breath well enough to create a torque dip if too many discs are added and or an open end cap are used
The SE spark plug wires are made by Packard Electric division of AC Delco and meet the OEM spec in every sense of the design and offer no performance advantage. These require strict control to maintain the correct function of the ion sensing circuit.
The SE non-street legal download 34302-06 will work fine for this pipe combination on a stock motor. Some VEs may need adjustment to get it  perfect but the base map will be very close.

So all you dealer techs and parts gurus out there is the 34302-06 cal included in the latest revision SERT CD???????
