Considering FLHRSEI2 Performance Upgrade
« on: January 08, 2012, 09:29:22 AM »

I am considering a Performance upgrade to my 03 FLHRSEI2.
Most of my riding is in the 2500 - 5000 "Touring RPM Range. Two Up probably 35% of the Time.

Open to suggestings here, suggestions and critque welcomed.

I have already upgraded to the SE Billet CAM Support Kit with increase flow Oil Pump - P/N 25284-11

I am leaning toward Dave Mackie Engineering
1) - TC590 - Twin Cam (chain drive)
http://davemackie.com/cams.html
2) - DME Head Work
http://davemackie.com/pricelist.html
Match Heads to Best Performance with the TC590 CAMs
Port,CNC,Polish
New Valve Springs as required for the TC590 CAMs
Machine Twin Cam for Compression Releases

3) - Install ACRs
4) - Fullsac x-pipeB
5) - Dohertymachine - Power PACC (EFI)
6) - Fresh Dyno Tune

Anything else i should be looking at
Valves & Seat?
Push Rods?
Lifters?
Head Bolts?

Thanks

How Much Bang for The Buck with head work??
« Reply #2 on: January 15, 2012, 11:37:00 AM »

I am looking at DME's TC590 CAMs. The promo / writeup says "high Performance Springs required"
http://davemackie.com/cams.html
I am going to use a Doherty Power PACC
Fullsac x-pipeB

I have the FLHRSEI2 SE103 Heads that came with it at the moment
My question is:
How much of a Bang for My Buck can I expect if I have DME also do my heads??????

http://davemackie.com/pricelist.html
Complete Headwork (parts not included) = $695.00 (Probably $1,000+ all said and done)
What sort of numbers could I expect over and above the TC590 CAMS\Doherty Power PACC & Fullsac x-pipeb?

Just looking for some higher numbers in the Touring RPM Range, preferably earlier than later.

Cheers

Thanks for that information.
I really wish to keep it as a 103, no splitting the case.

It's not a lot of difference.  But it is a difference.  You can go to 107" without splitting the cases.  3.9375" cylinders and piston get you there.  That can be done without touching the bottom end.  That bore size with compression around 10.25 and Mackie's 598 cams with only a 50 mm throttle body makes a 103" a heluva lot more fun.

That's the engine configuration in my 05 Dennis.  I think Brian has ridden it so he might be able to tell you how it feels too.
