Monotubes
« on: January 08, 2012, 06:25:11 PM »

Oh what a great day it is here in Dago...........New front suspension, I got the PS Monotubes in and holy crap....what an improvement.  I should have done this years ago.  JPW (Just Plain WOW).  Gary and Don, thanks for all of your input along the way, looks like it's getting time to ride!

Gary,
I've watched the talk between other members about how much better the aftermarket stuff has gotten, but I did not expect this big of a difference. My bike (albeit not a hot rod, but is certainly fun to ride) doesn't dive in turns, doesn't rip up and down when I shift......Holy snikeys.  Daddy has a new toy. If the playoffs weren't on right now......I'd be riding.  Thanks again for the right PN's, the upgrade was easy as hell........I can't figure out what I like better, the new speakers or the front end (I'd have to vote for the front end...) Thanks again....

I know well what you mean... I'd held off, and held off until I finally took the plunge. Along w/the Monotubes I did the PS 940 Utlra Touring Shocks in the rear, replaced swing arm bushings, replaced all motor mounts, installed Tru-Trak, had the neck bearings checked/greased, and the fall away checked/set. I haven't ridden an '09 or newer bike but we constantly hear members talk about the difference the new frame has done to how the bike handles. I can honestly say if it rides better than what I have now it's not going to be on two wheels/H-D. :D I'm totally happy w/the way the bike rides and it (IMO) rides better then it did the day I got it.

Mike,
Glad you had a great day, I had a house full over here today, one kid customizing his scooter (built a new brake set up), and another kid putting his SEEG back together again (good friends....Good beer......).  Runs good.....looks even better!!

BTW, did I ever tell you that the red ones are the fastest?  It's a known fact!!

Gary,
I first heard about the new front stuff a while ago and kinda poo poo'ed it a little, but after doing the upgrade and riding that 'lil freaker' for a few, I'm now convinced. What a wonderful world!

Beagle...Did you stay with the stock (lowered..12") height, or the 13" setup?

I stayed with the lowered 1" from the factory.  Gary (d00d)  hooked me up with the correct part numbers for my bike.  I like the lower look and feel of the 1' lower front and back (not that I need it....I'm 6'3", but with the road blimp that I have {helps my back}), I love this new setup. The larger seat lifts me a bit, and the air ride rocks!!

Mr Beagle, did you do the lowered monotubes or the stock height? I have had lowered bikes in the past, don't think I want to go that route again.
