Cheap mod that I think is a must? SERGU
« on: January 16, 2012, 12:51:50 PM »

Anyone know off hand the size or part number to replace the brake rotor bolts with chrome ones?  Beautiful rotors and wheels, then dull bolts?  Cheap mod, high return?  Its a long winter, love doing things that cost less than $30  Trying to order online or buy on e-bay?

Brake Rotor Hardware Kit - Chrome

It's the details, like this chrome hardware kit, that really get your bike noticed. This hardware adds a unique chrome-plated finish to the Original Equipment or accessory floating brake rotors. Kit includes 5 chrome-plated bolts manufactured to factory specifications to ensure fit and performance. Complete the custom look with floating brake rotors, styled to complement Original Equipment or custom wheels. Floating rotors feature a steel inner carrier that is shaped to accent the wheel, with a polished and drilled stainless steel outer disc that is precision-riveted in place. Rotors are sold individually, and include chrome installation hardware.

If you have a good relationship with your service tech or manager at the dealer,  ask if you can have them.  Worked for me...   :bananarock:   :huepfenjump3:

When I had a new front wheel replaced under warranty, the service manager called me and told they didnt count on replacing the rotor bolts, but they are a one time use bolt; at least according to Harley.

I'm not sure if that's a deal breaker or not for you.

Thanks, forgot that my "less than $30 chit" didn't include both front rotors.  Surdyke.com 20% off,  $54.95 for two sets delivered.

I replaced the rotor, caliper mounting and caliper through bolts with stainless steel from Alloyboltz.  Of course it didn't end there-lol.

I bought the HD sleeve bolt as pictured above, for $60 for 10, realized that wasn't enough plus they didn't fit.  Went to the hardware store and bought chrome bolts with washers to replace the dull cast ones from the factory for $29 for 16 of them and they worked great.  $29 and the picture doesn't do them justice unless I had the factory bolt in one of the spaces
