09 or new Heat Shield Part Numbers?
« on: January 20, 2012, 11:22:03 AM »

I have been checking in to the Fullsac x-pipe. I have found that if I change my Oil Pan to and 09 or newer, I can use a hanger off my tranny case and install it on my 03 SERK.
The next issue that comes to mind is Heat Shields. Pretty certain that my 03 SERK Ex Heat shileds will not work on the fullsac x-pipe.

Does anyone know the HD Parts #s for the 09 Exhaust Heat Shields??

Thanks

The X pipe is an excellent choice, I have this system and couldn't be happier. If you choose to go this way a friend of mine and a newbie to this site (zimbra1) has a complete exhaust system from a 2011 SESG (chrome tips) brand new! He was going to put them on his 08 SG. Just PM him. He chose to go with the new S&S system, http://www.sscycle.com/feature/featureview.php?s_id=31, which installed very easily, and keep his CFR's. Hope this helps.

Dennis, if you do choose to hang a later model crossover exchaust system you might want to consider using an 09's head pipe.  That pipe has 02 sensor bungs that are the same size as all the aftermarket tuning systems.  This would leave you the option of using the Revolution Performance EMS kit, the Thundermax or any of several others should you later decide to do so.  At least with the current status of those aftermarket tuning products you wouldn't have that option with a 2010 and later pipe.

Harley's price for just the four heat shields (yes, just the shields) is over $600 for the 09 and up set of pipes.  If it's something you might be interested in below will be a link to a complete 09 setup that is listed on Craigslist local to me.  If still available the price is certainly right.  Even with shipping to you it would make for cheap parts.

Oh......  and if memory serves it's not just an oil pan change that's required for the retrofit.  I think you also have to have a couple of bolt holes drilled and tapped in the transmission case just above the pan at the rear.

Thanks, you are correct. I have checked that out as well. I went a step further and asked if that would be a problem should I want to install a True-Trac latter on.
