Vance and Hines Big Radius 2-2
« on: January 25, 2012, 10:18:20 AM »

Who has changed their pipes on their Softail Convertible to Vance and Hines Big Radius 2 into 2?  Also can anyone compare the Big Radius 2-2 to the Staggered Big Shots?  I'm planning to change my wife's pipes on her 2012 Softail Convertible and not sure which to get.  She had the Big Shots Staggered on her previous Softail Deluxe.

Both of those pipes look great on the Conv. I had the V+H Big Radius on my CVO Springer and thought they were a little too loud under hard acceleration.

Can't make a comparison for you. However, I put on the Big Radius and they look and sound great but you will never hear the stock speakers well again.

Have you thought about true duals?

We ended up putting the Big Radius on her bike.  The dealership screwed up and put the 2011 Big Radius on instead of the updated 2012 pipes.  They used bung adapters for the O2 sensors.  I noticed it on the invoice and told them they put the wrong pipes on.  They didn't know the 2012 Softail needed the newer 2012 pipes.  So I told them I wanted the 2012 pipes and they agreed to replace them.  They will also need to retune the bike, of course at their expense.

For those of you who had new pipes installed, what tuner are you using and who did the mapping?

I have V & H 2 into 1 and use a Thundermax Autotune.   I also put in cams and a 124cu in big bore kit.

That must sound pretty mean.

This may sound stupid, but I was told by a service tech that the bike already has stage one and doesn't need an upgrade and the computer will make the adjustment. Sounds shoddy and I am thinking of getting a Gen 3 Dobitech

Sounds like a screamin machine.  Any further details on the mod w/cams and big bore kit would be great!.

I installed a Revolution Performance 124 kit made for the 110, Rev Perf ported, polished and CC'd heads, T-Man 662-2 gear drive cam, Screamin Eagle roller rockers and push rods, Feuling cam plate, oil pump and lifters, an HP Inc. 58mm throttle body with 5.3 gps injectors, Screamin Eagle dual exhaust and a ThunderMax Autotune. I also installed a rear chain drive because I thought the belt might not take the torque.  I'm still breaking it in an fine tuning so I don't know the capabilities yet.  I plan on putting it on the dyno after break-in.  I'll post the results.
