Is the seat on a 2012 Ultra CVO worth $1100.00?
« on: January 25, 2012, 07:16:34 PM »

I have a 2012 CVO SG and need a two up touring seat when riding with my wife. Would the Corbin dual tour be a better option?

Ask 50 site members their opinion about seats you'll get 50 different answers (just please don't ask which oil is best!).  Some very popular seat builders  are:  LePera, Corbin, C&C, Mustang.  If price is no object there are custom builders who will grant your every wish.  If price IS an object check out the SELLING thread on this site, there is a steady flow of good used seats among members searching for that perfect fit, just like you.
Me personally?  Once the Corbin went on my bike it has never come off.

The seat comes on the bike. I wouldn't spend any additional $$. I think the seat is comfortable. I never had a back rest before and can't believe i ever rode with out one. Longest I have sat on this one is 2 hours and wasn't ready to get off. As said before everybody has a different preference. I think it's worth it. $$$$

IMO, I have the same seat on my '11 SEURG, and it is, without a doubt, the most comfortable seat Harley has ever made.  My BSR thinks it's the best seat we've ever had too.
Corbins are not my cup of tea (too firm for me).  Mustangs are very good seats, and so are Saddlemen's, but I wouldn't trade my stock seat for any of them.  Is it worth $1100?  What price are you willing to pay to be comfortable?

Do you have a pic off your SG with the seat on it. Would love to see it.

Thanks

I don't have the seat on my SESG3, that's set up for solo riding as you see in my pic below.  The SEURG is the one that has the seat on it as that's what we use when we ride two-up.

Anything but  a Corbin, unless you want to pay top dollar for a seat that looks worn out in a few weeks. Everyone I ever saw looked old and detoriated in a few short rides. Cheapest looking stuff out there, try a Danny Gray.

I didn't think that I would like my SEUC seat but it is really comfortable, and my girlfriend loves it.  Retail on a new seat is $1400

Newfie, I think the SEUC seats from 09 and up will fit your bike. If you can find a used one on EBAY for a good price, mount it on your bike and if it needs adjustment take it to any good auto/motorcycle upholstery top. They can shape it to fit your needs, keep the heater, and throw a gel pad in if you want.  My seat is very comfortable, the heater still works fine and when I have a passenger I feel more confident when coming to a stop, or doing a tight turn etc.(the adjustment brought me a little closer to the ground ) The upholsterer I went to charged me $450.00 for the job and when he thought he had it the way I wanted it I went down for a "fitting".(seat was still on bike). We made a couple of adjustments and then he put the original leather/vinyl back on. Did about a 3500 mile vacation last summer no issues, no squirming around  I really like the gel insert. CAHDBIKER.

but if you go for a 09-up FLHTCUSE seat don't take a 09, there were many issues with them (heating, tearing, I had one replaced even as I had it on only for some miles)
