This is for my 2011 SERGU...

The Dyno shop guy says it's the one he prefers to tune.....and it has many things you can adjust to dial it in perfect.

Maybe I'm just missing something here, but I don't see the name of the product your guy is recommending.  Is it a Harley product, like a Screamin' Eagle Pro Race Tuner (SEPST), or a TTS-MasterTune, or a PowerCommander, or  :nixweiss:

I haven't used the latest PowerCommander V, but if it's like the PCIII then it will not adjust as many parameters as something like the TTS or even the SEPST.  The PCV is an add-on box that is installed between the ECM and the engine, whereas the others I've mentioned actually change the settings in the ECM and there is no physical part installed on the bike.  Any of the choices can work well in the hands of a good tuner, but if I had it to do over again I'd go with the TTS instead of a PowerCommander.

Usually the recommendation is to find a good tuner you trust and then have him recommend the device.  If you trust this tuner and he is most comfortable using the PCV, go with what he recommends.

If this is your preferred tuner (the one you will be most happy with tuning your bike and/or comes highly reccomended) then go w/what he prefers... more than likely this is what he is most proficient with... no sense in him learning a new system on your bike and  you going thru all the trials and errors of his learning curve.

I'd rather shop around for a person to tune with better equipment than seek opinions about lesser equipment which if it doesn't cost more is less capable, and in some cases even if it does cost more is still less capable.  You've got state-of-the-art EFI on your bike; you cannot find anything better.  Reprogram it so it can use its potential to the fullest.  Don't stick a piggyback controller on it.

Separate issue from what is or isn't a good tuning device.  But compared to what the automotive industry has on the streets (not just now, but for years) our bikes are hardly state of the art.

The first o2 sensor as part of the suite Mother Harley finally got around to offering us only about a half decade ago was a sensor that GM (that paragon of modernity in the 80s and 90s) had used and stopped using about 20 years before.  And, yes, the management systems are better now than they were that same half decade ago.  But we're still nowhere near state of the art.

You're good with the PC, and like most of the guys write, go with what your tuner is comfortable with.  The PC has been around long enough that if you have problems elsewhere, other tuners can figure it out.  Some ECMs, like the HD street module, aren't really tuneable, but the PC, TTS, and SEPST are.  You'll get a big bang for the buck with the PC.

More miss than hit on nested quotes here, but this is a motorcycle, HD in particular, forum...

all true

the main issue with the pcv is that it eliminates the o2 sensors and tunes the bike like a pre 04 bike

some folks like that because you can tune them richer so they are cooler - but they then use more gas
some folks like it because o2 sensors are new
the only for sure is that with the 02 sensors removed the tune will be static regardless of change of climate or elevation - thus it has to be tuned for worst case and stay there.
im quite sure it will run cooler - just ignore how much gas it uses and you will be just fine - it wont hurt the engine any & it may have more power.
but if a new chevy pickup gets better milage than your bike you might complain
