RB Racing Pipe installed Finally
« on: July 11, 2006, 08:34:03 PM »

Took 11 weeks to get it but its here and installed. Tomorrow is the PC III install and the 19th is the dyno tune. Little rain today so I could only do a quick ride to hear and feel it. I Like it to say the least. Has a little pop on de-excel put I thinks thats to be expected without the tune right? The install was pretty simple after a few questions were answered and I think I can install the PC III as well. I'm no mechanic but I got tools. :P. Here's a quick pic of the bike and pipe. Please chime in about the slight popping on de-excel opinions welcomed.

Mike,

Here is the RB Racing LSR Blackhole on my Road Glide. Am running Jims 120 reworked Vortec Heads by SBC, S&S 640G Cams. Still have to dyno,

Was running V&H Pro Pipe, dyno at 118 HP & 126 TQ.

The decell popping will go away if you add 4 to 6 in the cells from 1500 to 4500 at 0 and 2% throttle. If that doesn't totally cure it then go to the timing table and add similar values in the same cells.
This is done in basic mode, high resolution.

Love that ride Mike. I have a similar "yet different" solution for that decel popping. After tuning the SERT and 2-1 ProPipe on my ride, I installed the "closed loop module" like the Terminal Velocity Module in the FAT Book. The self tuning adjustments got rid of the popping within 50-75 miles. I am far from a tech, and there are lots of options out there. However the results were just as the my tuner had said; more torque and better performance overall. And less unwanted decel noise.

Here's another Alpha N closed loop system which gives some good background.

I think you can classify the TCFI a Speed Density setup hybrid. There is still a MAP and it does function the same way the Delphi did.

Aussie my Friend,

The install of my Horsepower Inc. 51mm Throttle Body was the last mod install that required a Dyno Tune directly. The tuner who worked his wizzardry explained that the newer models coming out from MOCO may or will have a closed loop module to assist in automatic fine tuning (no additional Dyno required),  The Terminal Velocity II is priced way high, so I looked into OEM models.

Just so happens I have the OEM model Mentor Alpha "N" installed. The sputtering is gone, the decel popping is rarely heard now and the performance is great. In fact, I have put off the 113" upgrade to see the potential of what I have existing. OH, the break in time frame for the Closed Loop Module to reach it's potential is about 50 miles (plus or minus 10 miles). In fact, my SEFB was rejecting the information at first, then like sands in an hour glass, it all came together. Runs super right now.  The OEM  pricetag: about 1/2 of the Terminial Velocity II price in the FATBOOK. Or less.

Now about the the Wide rear end: I have been so tempted, but don't want any down time right now. I was inspired by your efforts at the same project and "mick the pricks" photos were the closer for me.
I must have the fat rear end. I believe that is the way the fat boy should look from the MOCO's CVO department. Still, I don't think I want any downtime even though I have 05 LowRider doing nothing but garage time.

My regards to you Aussie,

Allow me a day to contact this source; I do not know how they want to resell these components. I will call them in the AM, and give you the results directly after.
Hope this is ok.
