Has anyone installed bag guards ?

I guess you're talking about those chrome things that wrap around the bottom portion of the bags?  Installing those on a CVO would be the rare exception to the rule of less is better when it comes to adding that kind of stuff to the clean looks on a CVO.  But, to each his/her own...

I personally think they are tacky...

I have the nastalga lower saddlebag rails on my 2006 FLHTCUSE, I think they allow the stripe to show well.
I didn't put them on my 2009 SERG with the extended bags.

I'm like TC, I like the clean look of the CVO without guards. I understand there function and maybe someone feeling they need them. If I felt I had to have them I would use the ones like VaEagle has. They are like the ones on my wifes RKC.

I second the clean look on my 2010 SEUC and believe me the bags are much easier to clean without the extra closeout around the bags.

I added the nostalgia rails on my '06 cuse but not on my '07 or '12.  Personally I think they detract from the clean lines and paint scheme of the CVOs.  And they don't really offer protection other than maybe saving a bag that came loose for some reason from falling off.  The rear engine guard is what would hit the ground first in case of a tip over or spill - the rail is too high up.  If you went over far enough to get to the rail, well you've got significant damage all around imo.

I put on the Saddle Bag guards on my 09 SERG and I can tell you first hand they work.  Last summer when out in Sturgis I had the oil changed and the vendor did not put the kick stand down all the way,   :'( to make a long story short the bike rolled on the guards back & front and they protected the saddle bags and fairing.  No damage at all  8) I went for the low profile guards which do not cover the bags but do protect them if the bike rolls on its side.  Great investment from my point of view  :2vrolijk_21: A lot cheaper then replacing the bag...

Cyrl,
Did you have any trouble mounting these with the fillers between bike and bag ?

To get the rails to fit in the back you have several options.
Cut a slot in existing filler strips and touch up paint.
Get a set of slotted filler strips and have them painted.
Or in my case I bought the slotted chromed filler strips and didn't worry about paint.

The only thing I've done to my saddlebags is add the Brukus hardware. A little piece of mind for security and if the original hardware wasn't secured properly and the bag fell off. The rails do serve a purpose but a lot of folks don't install on their CVO.

I have asked the parts guys and was told that these are not a direct add-on.  If you look between the fender and the saddle bag you'll see.

The filler strips are the chrome slotted they were also on my 09 SEUC a touch fiddly but not that difficult.
