Going to install (1) Rockford Fosgate 300/4, still deciding what speakers to put in the batwing and lids.  Eliminating the tourpak except for on trips.  Will probably get rid of the XM and CB module due to never using either.  I use my I-pod 100% of the time.  Lids are getting dropped off at the painter tomorrow.  Will keep posting pics as I progress.  Suggestions on speakers?

JL Audio 6.5 Components with Hawg Wired adapter rings. Putting their 5x7s' in the saddle bags as we speak... AWESOME.

Hey Sammy -

What solution did you go with to get the JL 5x7s to seal on the saddlebag lid?

Suggestions on speakers?

For the faring:
Hybrid Audio Technologies "Clarus"
Hybrid Audio Technologies "Unity"

Unfortunatley, I don't know of any aftermarket 5x7 speaker for the lids that will "drop-in" without leaking.

For anyone using Hawg-Wired adapter rings...  Did you find a way to secure the metal side brace that normally attaches to the lower outside screw position on the speaker mounts??  Or do you just leave this brace "swingin?"  I can't seem secure the brace with the HW adapters.

Thinking about ordering the Dragonfly adapters because they say theirs allows securing of the side braces.

TIA...

I have Biketronics adapters ... I think it mostly depends on what speakers are installed more so than the adapter. Different wooker basket designs will dictate how the brace will need to be tweaked for clearance. I've always managed to get mine secured, but when I had the MLK-165 Hertz woofers installed it took QUITE a bit of massaging the brace to allow it to mount.

I've had 4 or 5 (maybe 6?) different speakers mounted, all using the Biketronics adapter (same adapter) and had to adjust the brace almost every time. Usually you can just bend the speaker end of the brace enough to hit the hole for the screw. You can probably test it by removing one of the speakers, then try and attach the brace to the adapter with the speaker removed. If the holes line up then the adapter is fine.

Hope this helps ...

Change of plans, going to install aftermarket head unit(Clarion) and 4 JL speakers (batwing and lids).  The lids should be back from paint this weekend so I'm almost ready for the stereo.  I'm having the head unit and speakers installed by a local audio guy, I was just wondering if I can remove the factory radio harness without much trouble.  I don't plan on putting anything back to stock so I want to remove everything, all wires in the rear including antenna and CB wiring from tourpak.  Has anybody done this??

I would fork out no more than $100 for the set.
