getting a tour pak painted
« on: February 06, 2012, 02:32:18 PM »

I am in the process of purchasing a tour pak and deciding if I should by new or get one painted. If anyone has used a painter that was reasonable and did good work can you please pass on there name. I have one quote so far of $800 that seems a little high at that point I could almost by on from Harley painted to match.

I've used GCPaint for my stuff since they did the original set. Basically it boils down to if the part is available from Harley GCP can't do it. But, if there is no part number for your specific part they can. If Harley ONLY offers a Chopped Tour Pak, you could have GCP do a King Tour Pak. But, the cost to paint a King TP is around $850.

I paid $600 to get one painted. Only because MoCo had discountinued. Paint to match from factory will save you sum doe, if your color is available.

Little Designs in So. Cal. did mine to match the Teal and it is fantastic! Dave is one of the best, having done MANY customs. Cost to me was $450.00, but we are also friends. Look him up and see.

Check around for a quality painter in your area. A good painter can match the paint  up. A friend of mine had a yellow one painted locally here(Canada) by an automotive  painter to match his 09 RG and you can't tell the difference.

Check out Attitude Custom Paint in Florida. I sent the tins for my wifes bike to them. They are very good and reasonable on prices. You can find them on the web.
Good luck, I'm sure that you will find someone to do the job. Or a new tour pack from Harley.
