Look at the price paid on this ebay auction for a pair of CVO mirrors:

These cost $75.73 each new from a -20% dealer!    Don't these idiots check the new cost before they bid for things???  

And this is far from an isolated instance that I've seen recently!

The frenzy of the bid war...ugh.  They obviously didn't do their due diligence. PT Barnum had it right -- one is born every minute.

Could be ignorance, or it could be some more of whatever it is that causes people to pay $10-15k over MSRP for a mass produced motorcycle at places like Destination H-D.  The Harley market seems to attract a lot of folks who think it adds to their cred or indicates their superior manhood when they spend way too much.  The trick is to be the seller in one of those situations, not the buyer.

Years ago, at an estate auction, I was bidding on a 10 year old JD 425 with a 60" mower and a blade. Since it was in great condition and came with the blade I was willing to go as high as $4000 (about $2500 less than 1/2 of a new one with a 'free' 72" mower deck). It was sold for over $11000!! The guy was kicking himself later that day. He got caught up in the bidding...against a woman, no less!...and I bought a 2 yr old  ($13000 new) Cub Cadet with a mower, blade, tiller, trailer, cab and snow thrower at another auction  for $3200 a few weeks later during a torrential rain and wind storm.

Around five years ago I was looking for some new fishing gear . A friend of mine suggested ebay. He told me that  on ebay I could get what I want , and save  money ..... so I gave it a try  . On multiple auctions the winning bider could have bought new for what he payed for used equipment . Based on my experience , I just laugh when someone suggests that I try ebay . Some people are crazy . Go figure .

I will buy a couple for 7.00 each were at, harley wants 49.00
