Passenger foot pegs
« on: February 08, 2012, 08:30:37 PM »

Thinking of changing the passenger pegs to footboards. Never had them on my old bike , question do they give the passenger a more comfortable feel ?

My wife says Yes, it also makes it easier for climbing on/off, especially when you have a tour pack added, and just the pegs causes some vibrations under the foot that become uncomfortable after a while.

An occasional bsr of mine hates the floorboards. She likes to hook her heel on the pegs and can't get comfortable on the boards. I think she is in the minority on this one though. She also has long legs so that might be part of it.

I moved the stock passenger pegs up for me, and added floorboards - my little lady has a bum knee, and this makes it easier getting on and off, and during the ride.  I did adjust the heigth of them a couple of times to get the right comfort level for her.

What I don't like about the passenger footboards is that you will most likely have her boot tips hitting your legs at stop lights.  Not a problem, just can be annoying to me.  Just means she is comfortable, and we all know what that is about!

Possum,  you can do what I did and also others. If you have the adjustable floorboards, you can switch the mounting hardware around and it moves them back quite a bit.  I would think about 5"  it also looks a lot better too.  Doesn't hide the derby cover on the left side.  Easy to do also. Just unbolt them and put the right to the left and the left to the right.

There was a set on EBay last week I think. I posted a thread in the selling section. They may still have them

I got a set off this site a few weeks ago and I've seen at least one or two more.  Keep hunting.  Good luck.

Saw those as an option - I thought that might make it more uncomfortable by having them move back further - but willing to give it a try - hell at this point, those mounts are mouse nuts to everything else.  Thanks for the tip!

They're not available as a set, unless your purchasing them from someone whose selling the complete set up.

HD only sells the parts individually.  There are threads with the part numbers listed.  :2vrolijk_21:

If you're looking for more comfort for the passenger (especially on long hauls), the Kuryakn Adjustable passenger footpegs can be adjusted on the fly.....  http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/1596/Adjustable-Passenger-Pegs

Yep, wife wants those as well.  Thinking about trying the HD version this time. Have the Kury's on the 05 and have replaced parts just about every year.
