Kawaski now being sold at Costco.....
« on: February 09, 2012, 01:25:08 PM »

Just came from Costco where they had a couple of Kawaski street bikes set up in a display that reads "All Kawasaki Motorcycle models now available at Costco"  https://www.costcoauto.com/kawasaki/default.aspx

Had to do a double take......where's the Harleys  :nixweiss:

Cool
I went on the site and ordered Brian 103T a 2012 Concours 14 w/abs.
He will have to pick the color though.

Someone had told me that the Lathrop Harley dealership was selling bikes through the local Costco. Can't confirm that..

I'm definitely not an expert on the subject, but I did read somewhere that Kawasaki was the only OEM that had been talked into doing this sales thing with Costco.  And they don't actually sell the bikes at Costco, they just display them and the potential buyer is sent to a local Kawasaki dealer to make the actual purchase.  When they present their Costco membership card they get a predetermined discount off the regular price of the bike.  Anyone who knows how Harley management feels about the word "discount" will realize that they would never get involved with such a program.

btw, the link doesn't work for me, it appears the page is down.

Do they have a big sticker on them that says: "Not for sale individually"?

looks like a Costco buying program like they do with cars. They send you to a dealer to make the deal. Not a big deal. Someone has to sell them. Buy American.

Having spent most of my time traveling internationally last year, I found it very common to go into department stores and see various motorcycles, scooters, boats and even cars.  Seems like a tend that the US retailers may just be catching up on....

I also heard that they were going to contract all the maintenance services out to the local Waffle House, but can't confirm that. . .
