Need Some Info
« on: February 09, 2012, 06:30:33 PM »

I am looking to purchase a used 2009 Ultra CVO. There is a beautiful silver and blue at our local harley dealership that I believe is at a pretty good deal $28,500 with only 4700 miles. Here is the question, If I miss out on this one for any reason, (keep in mind I live in Ca.) can I purchase an out of state CVO without any problems bringing it back. Ca does not like their residents purchasing anything out of state, or am I better off finding something in state. Thanks for the help.

I bought a 09 CUSE4, Blue & Silver in March '10 for 27K. Had 1300 miles. Private sell is the best way to go, but you might have to look hard. Don't worry about some elses deal, mine might be hard to match. If you want it, buy it. CA is a different world!!!!

Got my 09' SEUC in June 5th 2010 with 4800 miles from a dealer for $27,500. But yours may not be a bad deal depending on extras and stuff.

I don't think I'm gonna purchase out of state. It looks like it's coming down to two different bikes,  2009 Ultra CVO with 4700 miles at 30k OTD or a 2011 Red Ultra Limited with 1400 miles at 25K OTD. Guess which one I'm leaning towards.
You guessed it,  CVO.

rsberg, I would suggest you check with Ca. DMV and make sure you have something in writing if you buy any vehicle from out of state with low miles on it. 7500 miles sounds realistic, but definitely see something in writing from DMV before you take a chance.CAHDBIKER

CA DMV requires 7,500 miles on a vehicle or it is considered "new" even though it is a resale.  They will not let you register it if the EPA sticker does not say "Federal and California" emissions.  Hence the Nevada plates on my SEEG...

Another option with a low mile 49 state bike is RIDE it until you reach the 7,500 mile mark. Then go to the DMV, and don't ask how I know this.

To take it a step further, if you ride it until 7,500 plus own it for a year prior to going to DMV, you don't pay the sales tax if you tell them that it has been out of state the entire time.
