TIF (Rich?),

Sorry I made your head hurt.  Glad the beer helped.   ;D   I think I owe you one (or two).  Going to the Spokane GTG?

I'm changing from an AFS fuse setup to AGU because AFS's only go down to 40 amps.  Just to make things easier on me when I get back home from this trip I'm on, I've ordered a new AGU fuse holder and an assortment of AGU fuses from Crutchfield...15, 20 and 25 amps.  They have them on sale right now for about  a buck apiece.

I think I'll try the 20 amp fuse first.  If you can run two 300-watt amps on a 20 amp one, I should be fine with one 400-watt amp.  I'll let you know...

I hope everyone reading this thread who might be planning an upgrade picks up on my mistake and goes with an AGU fuse setup with less than a 40 amp fuse!

Hey Dave -

Hope you have a safe trip back.
I have each of the Rockfords fused with a 20 amp right now ... not both of them on a single 20. If I can drop each one to a 15amp I'll be happy - if you can fuse the JL to a single 25 I think that would be safe as well.

Take care ...

Very nice indeed Captain Dave --- and thanks for giving back to the community --- I felt the same way.  Your post is way detailed and I love how you listed all your parts.  How do you like your speakers?  I have ARC mids in mine, but like Rich says, you get the audio bug, so I'm looking to upgrade now.

Nice write up!... How do you like that head unit? Is it easy to see the display while riding?

LoneWolf, thanks!  Still loving my speakers, especially because I get a lot of performance out of them for being so light in weight.  I hesitate to go with any heavier speakers thinking it might negatively affect handling.  The amp itself is pretty heavy.  I'm happy with my setup for now.

LOVE the head unit, HotDog.  The display is very easy to see when riding, but as with most video displays, hard to see with the sun at your back and shining directly on it.  Just DON'T get water on the face.  I splashed a little on it when washing the bike and a few drops intruded behind the face of the video screen, and now I have a couple water spots there.  Been wondering if there's a way to pop the clear plastic faceplate off to clean it up...

Capt Dave, check this out -- the answer to all our problems LOL  just ordered this new Kenwood Marine head unit to replace my non-marine unit.  It looks promising in that it has both front and rear USB -- i will keep you posted
