Digital Cameras
« on: July 14, 2006, 12:01:31 PM »

Getting ready to go to Yellowstone and Sturgis and I need a new camera.  I had a Cannon G-5 which was OK, but it didn't survive a drop off the bike at 80 MPH.  I go online and there are a million options.  Main requirements are:  quick shot, megapixal, memory chip, easy to shoot while on the move.  Who has a good one?

My Colorado trip pictures were taken with a Canon Pwershot SD450.  I absolutely love the camera!  Does, pics, videos, special effects, etc, 5 Megapixels, 2.5" LCD, and is TINY.  I keep it in the left fairing pouch (have the 3 pouches behind the windshield).  Cost is $279, and worth every $

Sony DSC-P200...I think Nikki was using the same one...I dropped it at Wind Cave NP, a small piece fell out...I stored the piece to see if I could put it back.  After it fell, Anne had occasional problems with the auto lens...the unit would shut down or lock up.  Back home, I reinstalled the piece (where I thought it belonged [smiley=nervous.gif]) and it has worked well since...

We (re: she) just bought a Sony DSC-T30.  Has a large screen for easy viewing and simple software to work with.  Very small (can easily fit in a pocket) and easy to use one handed.  Got a 2Gb mem card from Best Buy for $99.00 to go with it.  Almost 600 pictures without needing to empty the card.  Oh yea, it's 7.2 mpeg with steady shot ability.  You really just have to pick one and say that's it.  It's going to be outdated in 6 mos anyway.  The battery (if it's rechargeable) will last a couple of years, then it's expensive enough to replace you'll just buy a new camera.

Same camera I'm using and have been very happy with it.  I purchased this camera on the recommendation from Bret, and SEULTRA. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] You can find them on eBay, along with accessories for them.

I use a Fuji F10 and a S5000 same mem card.  The F10 is great on the bike she wears it around here neck takes quick pic and is fool proof will also do video with sound.
