Found bag that Works for the Tour Pack
« on: July 14, 2006, 01:06:07 PM »

I know this has been a subject discussed several times and wanted to share my find.  I found that the T-Bag Universal Helmet Bag is the perfect size for the top of the tour pack.  [smiley=banana.gif]  I looked as several options and this seemed like the best.  Cost was $139, plus I added straps to the "front" and removed the sleeve that slides over the backrest.  I had a cobbler sew on the new straps for $15.  I have been looking for some time and needed something for the trip to Sturgis with the wife.  Check out the pics

Haven't you already overloaded the "10#" weight limit of the rack with just the bag??? ::) :P [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

The weight of the bag is only about 1lb, so I just have to make sure I don't overload it or put the light stuff in it.  At least it gives me an option [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Just have to make sure tour pak itself is always completely full of stuff so the lid is supported from the inside..... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Add to that if it's heavier then ten pounds, you may want to take it off before opening tourpak lid and having cable/hinges on tourpak support that extra weight. [smiley=nervous.gif]

Yeap, that's ugly.  At a National Park pull off out west once I watched the side of a tour pak  body bust out as it's lid got lifted with a big overstuffed bag on top.  Had probably been working up to it for quite awhile.  Then, "crunch!!"

There's a reason I never put racks on either of the tour paks.  If they were there I'd use.  If I was using I know I'd never take the bags on and off just to raise the lid.  And if I was using them I'd also be stuffing the damn things full.  So I can't give in to temptation that isn't bolted on the bike to begin with.

I have seen the side of one flex before and pointed it out to the owner that they may want to take stuff off top before opening tourpak. It's not pretty site to see for sure. [smiley=nervous.gif]

The Willie & Max MCS100 bag is a nice fit.  The MCS200 also fits well.  No modifications are required to the bags and they come with the four straps that allow connection to the "D" rings on the bag.  I've got more photos is you need them.  The larger MCS100 as shown on the bike was $119.00 from Willie & Max.  My wife and I made a 3000 mile trip with this bag and no issues to report.

Sorry about the large photo above.  I should have reduced the size before posting.  Maybe this one will be better.  As I mentioned earlier, the bag requires no modification and comes with everything you need to attach to the luggage rack.  It also includes a carry strap in case you want to throw the bag over your shoulder and a small handle if you want to carry like a suitcase.  I'm also going to post a photo with a close up of the "D" ring connection.

Here's a close up of the "D" ring connection.  Four of these straps come with the bag from Willie & Max (both the MCS100 shown above and the MCS200).  You can also use these straps to stack the smaller 200 bag on top of the 100, but I was concerned about the weight and height of stacking the two bags on top of the luggage rack.

Dang you got the kitchen sink in that bag?

Just kiddin, ;D

I prefer to use UPS or FedEx for more than a 2 night out runs

To me, it's so much easier to just ship clean/dirty clothes to a destination & back home than to pack up all that stuff

Different ways to do things is just like why we all like different accessories on our scooters

Gotta Love Variety

BTW - Good Looking Bag, appears to fit well [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
