Just out of curiosity, is this done just for the look or is the entire fairing carbon fiber, resulting in a weight savings?

For me, the subject came up because I put different handlebars on the bike and the fairing mounted mirrors no longer work.  So I started to look at different things that I could do to fill the holes left by the mirrors; plugs, patching/painting, new inner, ect.  Then my mechanic came up with the idea of having the inner the carbon fiber dipped;  it looked cool, and I've not seen too many of them around.  Other than that, no other reason.

Ah ok I see what the deal is. I was thinking it was an entirely new carbon fiber panel. Wonder how much it would cost to pop a master mold and then vacuum mold a new piece with carbon and resin. I've never done one but did some fiberglass lay up when I was younger. Oh great...now I have something else to look into building.  ;D :2vrolijk_21:

I did it just for the look, I wanted something more than a color matched inner fairing, something nobody else had at the time! As far as weight saving the inner fairing is rather light in weight I doubt it would be much difference!              Bostonboy

They have some pretty cool stuff there. Impressive business they've created and might need to send some of my pickup panels in for some wood design.

Faux carbon fiber?  Why? :nixweiss: If it was real, that would be cool, and for those prices they're charging, they should be real carbon fiber pieces.

I think those prices are a bit high.  I'll post what the estimate is for mine when it comes in.

Yes you would think so. I was checking this process a few years ago and it's pretty labor intensive since all the panels need to be smoothed out. Most panels for cars and trucks have a texture to them and they have to be flat and smooth...unless of course they've changed the process since I last checked. Thank you nitro for posting the links. I couldn't remember what the process was called. I think it was mentioned that they send you new panels that have been painted. That way you can save your prepainted ones if you want to switch back.
