I am sooooo glad I am not in the market for a 2007 SE model. This is the poorest paint design to date for thr SE models. IMHO!!!!!

I will second that!!!!

If I was in the market for a new one, I would go for a 06.

I hope their new gadgets work better than the past ones.

Ok, you've got me intrigued now. You know I'm partial to that color scheme. :) I'll have to see that in person, because from the picture it just looked like a black bike w/some orange accents.

I was occupied all day.  Got a moment to logon briefly once during the day but then without time to see anything but the list of names.  Only just now saw the images of what's to come.

The VRod touring bike didn't materialize, nor did the liquid cooled bikes, someone guessed right on a Springer and there were other bits and pieces of fortunate conjecture.  Remember someone saying the 110" was coming but don't remember who.  That was a good catch.  But, basically, the same Ouigi board nonsense as always has to be put up with though.

That same nonsense is one of the things that makes "the day" that much more interesting.  Wondering what the new bikes will be and what new gadgets might be released to tinker with.

As Dawg and others suggested above though, I wasn't real excited either.  The paint schemes are simply simpler.  Granted, we can understand why they might have made that choice.  It's not that they aren't necessarily in some ways bold or dramatic.  But they do seem to be a step back from what we've seen before.

For me personally this isn't bad news.  It means no temptation of any kind.  Buy these things on emotion (i.e., looks) and still haven't seen anything that comes even close to tempting me away from the red 05 SEEG.  In fact the only paint schemes I've ever seen I liked as well or better were the red SE Road King and the red or the black/silver SE Road Glide.

The larger motors and six speeds for everyone are nice.  The motor is still smaller than the primary competition though and the six speed has limited utility for most of the riding folks will be doing the majority of the time.  But as a baseline any improvements are a good thing.  The 110" for the new SE bikes ie certainly interesting; but not enough to change love affairs with a current bike.  Motor work can always be done.  Hell, I'm gearing up for that now anyway.

All tolled the new line isn't quite as daring as they've done before.  But they ought to at least be able to get the paint out.  Maybe they're just catching their breath a bit from this past year's Ultra debacle before stepping out again.  One thing I did notice that was finally great to see, however, is that in the base touring lineup they finally got the stripe fixed on the Road Glides.  Couple of the paint schemes for the base Road Glides really are nice color combos too.

The new release of P&A was kind of underwhelming too.  The SE's get power lid locks (thank you Goldwings).  Whoopee.  And they aren't even available as options should anyone be interested; at least not yet they're not.  Some funky looking new oil filter that might help not making a mess on the front motor mount; but I couldn't figure out from the website if our bikes could use it or not yet.  And lots of other sundry stuff.

All in all nothing bad at all.  The new bikes look "nice."  I'm just not sure that "nice" is good enough when you're talking about beaucoup bucks for an ostensibly high end Harley that will still need tinkering.  After all, if we bought bikes based on their being "competent" and well engineered we'd all be riding Goldwings.  Competent and nice should be replaced by outstanding and heart thumping.  Of course with the red SEEG I got heart thumping out of the box and have been working toward outstanding in riding competence ever since.  So I guess you can get there if you want.

End of deep thoughts.....

Don, kind of the same feeling here...nothing there to make me say "Gee, wish I'd waited another 3 months to get an '07".  Of course, waiting to the end of the model year yielded me some benefits, mainly an excellent paint job, and perhaps a few other quirks that were presented at the first of the '06 model year. I'm happy with everything about my bike thus far, with the few little mods I've done to it, and I'm sure there will be more to come.  The new tranny with the different gear type might prove interesting over time, but I'm sure that will soon be available for a rightous price.

You were dead on...they do all have seats!!  Most will probably have to be replaced with Corbins, but seats, nonetheless.

Terry, I've looked them over generally now but haven't had the chance to digest the details yet.  Did you notice any other differences (gains) from your 06 to the 07s other than the Nav unit being stock and those adjustable passenger floorboards?

The P&A listing for the floorboards said they'd not work on bikes prior to 07 which begs the question of what along the frame that it mounts to might have changed as well.  Compared to what we can do with actual mapping GPS unit the Nav unit seemed a pretty underwhelming option when it was released last year too.  So if (aside from some difference in rubber and grips) those are the only changes I certainly couldn't argue with the choice of yours over the new one.  Now that you guys are finally getting the paint problems replaced those are good looking machines.  The engine, of course, will be the biggest difference that many will point to.  But engines can be worked on if one has a mind to.......

Don, the only other thing is the location of the passenger's headset plug....mounted on or about the rear speaker....imagine that!!!!  Hopefully, that will be available as a "kit" soon, as the other location precludes the passenger getting on board without first plugging up that end, then fumbling about trying to line up the plug and cord on the helmet...guess who ends up doing that?  I did notice in the P&A that the new floorboards would not work on anything but the '07's so I am also interested in what is different there as well.  The NAV system is NOT a biggie at all, IMO, as I much prefer the location and the graphics/colors of my 2820...same for the other 2XXX series as well.  Not sure I care for the new floorboard design either.  I do like the black engine on the new model, but I've grown to love the silver now.  A set of cams and a little head work...piggyback some other ECM device, dyno, and you're there with the 110 in terms of power/TQ.  I might have missed something, but that kind of sums up the differences I've picked up on.  Other than the paint schemes being more simplified.  Don't know if you've had a chance to see a BCCS that's right, but mine came out of the crate that way, thank goodness, and it is a damn fine looking color when it's right.

So they fixed that little mistake did they  ;D ?

It is quite frankly disgraceful that that was not a running year change to take care of as soon as it was recognized.  Since there can surely be a kit of parts constructed to make the change after the fact it ought to at least be a freebie swap for the 06 guys.  But, of course, it won't......

Will be verrrrry interesting to see the first 110 on a legitimate dyno.  If you roughly compute the usual difference between the HD crankshaft numbers and the true rear wheel numbers the torque advertised is far less than impressive out of a 110 (translated sick).  My guess is it will take a Zippers 575 and throttle body to wake up this motor enough to run with the converted 103's.

Some funky looking new oil filter that might help not making a mess on the front motor mount; but I couldn't figure out from the website if our bikes could use it or not yet.  ..

Saw that also, but fitment excludes use with the "premium oil cooler" as installed on our bikes.  Just about spit  up when I saw the price of the filter......$269.95.....Holy Chit!!!...seems a little pricey for a chrome sleeve to maybe catch the drips when changing out the new core.  I may have seen it all now when it comes to pricing.  BTW, changed to the K&N with the nut integrated into the end of the filter.  Figured out a little "Redneck Engineering" and break the filter loose, then cover the whole thing with a plastic freezer bag and put the socket back on the nut and spin it off.  NO Drips or oil spills as the filter and excess oil all end up in the bag.  Not very brilliant, but no cleanup.
