T-Hawk...at the North Pole having Jill speak may not be necessary   ;)  But when I'm in a strange city or place, and unsure of what the next turn will be, it's nice to have it come through my headset instead of having to divert my attention from the all the a-holes trying to run over me in order to take a look at the GPS screen.  She does mispronounce some street names though, but I still get the general idea, usually.  The Australian chick really has a hard time with some of the names around my part of the country.

But beeping when going over the speed limit would get on my nerves really fast, as that is the norm rather than the exception when I'm riding the bike, especially on the hwy.  I do not like running behind or beside most cages...I want to be the lead dog.

As I said, I don't have mine handy to look, but research I'm doing seems to state that it's in the proximity settings, even with no POI's loaded.

:orange: ah ah, checked the safety camera in Proximity Alerts, this is checked, and audio notification has a choice of Single Tone, Continuous Tone and OFF.

Although the OFF was checked but will try again.
if this doesn't fix then will un click the Satety Camera box.

Good work guys and girls.  :mango:

So True... So True.

I guess I just don't get out enough to venture through too many places I haven't been a time or two on previous road trips, long before I even started using a GPS to keep me posted as to the next available gas station or simply to help me monitor my speed.

Agreed, not the best idea to be diverting ones attention when in heavy or even medium traffic.  I too prefer to be the lead dog... as a saying up here goes... if you're not, the scenery doesn't change... and there's so much to see out there.

Even though I've driven the Alaskan/Canadian Highway many times before in the Tahoe, I'm sure I'll get along just fine with Jill's little interuptions while I make the trip on the Ultra this Summer.   8)

This is all great stuff people.
except this unit is asis out of the bag, only thing downloaded is software update from Garmin. There are no POI's or anything else.
I have also been unable to find anywhere to switch the voice off, as suggested.
i have emailed Garmin support to investigate.

How come its only me then? (no smart answers either!!!)  :orange:
Unless it's a special for the UK market only!!

The only thing I can at present is to turn the thing off when it happens.  :nixweiss:

cheers for the assistance as always.

Doesn't happen with mine!  (Well it does, but only with the speed camera stuff from PocketGPS world loaded....)

If this is what it is, then you can turn them off here:
Tools->Setttings->Proximity Points->Proximity Alerts(change)

Thanks BigLew55. The beeping has been driving me crazy too whenever I approach a speed camera. I've now set my 660 to silent on the safety camera warning setting. Suppose I should have read the manual (but who does?)  :jalapeno:

I may suggest the next time you load camera pois don't use the poi loader default settings. Then you can define exactly for each camera type when and how you want a warning.
