Hard to start after Tts and Fulsac mods
« on: March 04, 2012, 01:10:11 PM »

Have a 2012 CVO RG (maple and I love it) and installed fulsac header and baffles along with the TTS master tune with the map fom Steve but now the bike is harder to start -3 or 4 tries to get it going - would like to hit the key and go. Any ideas what could be the problem

The Map Steve sends you is only a canned map when installed in your bike...it is NOT a plug and play map. Having said that when/if you get it tuned and the VE Tables are set correctly for YOUR bike the starting should be no problem from there.

You didn't accidently disable the automatic compression releases did you?  While the map that is provided may not be 100% the best your particular bike can be, most who have done the "standard" Fullsac Stage I (X pipe and cores) have not had issues with how the bike runs.  Could it be better?  Maybe, but in some cases I have known, people have taken the bike to be dyno'd and the tuner has said that it's already so close, I don't really think I can do anything to improve it much.  I would double check what map I loaded, then load it again, making sure I didn't accidently change something in the process.  While I do not deny the fact that any given bike can be improved with a good individualized tune, I also do not subscribe to the school of thought that every single STOCK bike is so significantly different that they HAVE to be tuned to run properly.  Otherwise, HD would have to load particular maps in each bike that came off the assembly liine, based on whatever parameters were "off".  They don't do that.

If reloading the map doesn't work, I'd contact Steve at Fullsac and see if he can help solve the problem, or there are enough folks on here that have done exactly what you're doing, I'm sure you could get a copy of their map to see if it changes things.  Mine runs perfectly with the canned map I was supplied, and I've got basically the same bike you do, other than some electronics and a Tour Pak.

The problem is in the cold cranking mode. Once it's started there is no problem. initially it takes approx 10 seconds for the engine to start. We are at sea level and not sure if this making a difference.

Something tells me it might be a little colder in Canada than Arizona. E mail me with a local weather report and I will make a few tweeks based on your
actual cold start temperature.  (You wearing heated gear?)

Thanks Steve I am sure it is a lot colder here. The average now is about 8 c, will be 8-12 c this month. Other than the starting the bike runs great with the mods.

FaceRacer I agree....you cannot beat Fullsac's customer service. I am stationed overseas and working with them over shipping a set of powercores has been outstanding. I have never been treated so fairly by anyone they have actually been more than fair.

Thanks for the kind words Guys.

I'll share a little inside info with you. Rcchoppers is Lance and Lorene from Canada. They have a pair of nice Baggers, a 103 and a CVO 110.
The new CVO is Lorene's. Pretty sure she's the one out in the garage firing up her CVO for a ride when its 36 degrees outside!

Sounds like my kinda girl. Your a lucky man Lance.
