Footboard Spacer
« on: March 05, 2012, 09:30:39 PM »

I just installed rienhart true duals classic style pipes. The right side footboard came with a spacer to clear the pipe. I’m looking to match the left side foot board, rienhart has no answer. Does anybody have any solutions?

Yea, buy another right side footboard and use the spacer :2vrolijk_21: Sell the extra footboard on EBay  :pepper:

It looks like a different mount on the left side. And I don’t think footboards come with spacers.

The spacers from Harley Goodies are a great choice.

I used the Kuryakyn 1" out and 1" forward spacers on mine to give me more comfortable riding position maybe the drivers side one could replace the rinehart spacer add the left one and everything would be sweet ...extra benefit from moving floorboard forward was extra room between front and rear boards makes it easier for maneuvering in parking lots etc

just ordered the Harley Goodies spacers for my FLTRXSE... never cared for the way I felt wobble footed on floorboards.. always seemed too close to the bike for me.

If you only need to space out, try McMaster Carr. You ca get the spacers in any length you want up to several inches. Also stainless 1/2" Allen screws in the matching lengths.

wasnt sure they would fit so got Kuryakyn to install them free at AZ bike week last year that way if they didnt fit i didnt have to ship em back and wait for credit very comfortable position and legs away from the heat and the tank 1" makes a difference

Just something to be aware of guys...if your bike is lowered, moving the boards out too much can cause some serious issues going through the twisties, as in the floorboard brackets dragging instead of the underside of the floorboards themselves, which fold up a bit so it's not a problem.  The floorboard brackets will lever the rear wheel off the pavement...that's happened to one member here already.  The Kury spacers are 3/4" and they don't seem to cause problems, but when you start getting further out than that, it might be a good idea to ensure hard, unforgiving parts won't hit the pavement before the floorboards themselves.  There's a reason those front floorboards fold up under slight pressure.

If you've got a bike with full height suspension, front and rear, you can probably get away with 1" spacers  :nixweiss:, but if you've got a SESG, SEEG, or SERGC with the 1" lower rear (SEEG is lower front and rear), I'd be checking clearances out before going to a 1".  I'd be very apprehensive with anything over 1", regardless of bike model.
