Custom Dynamics Lighting
« on: March 06, 2012, 11:54:36 AM »

Installed several Custom Dynamics LED components yesterday evening...Amber LED rear turn signals, Laydown Smoked Tailight w/tag window(120 Red LEDs, 4 white), Dynamic Ringz Front LED turn signals (an outer ring of white LEDs, and inner cluster of Amber LEDs, Signal Stabilizer, and Magic Strobes module for the tailight (10 choices of flashing, etc).  Installation is all plug and play.  The flashing tailight might even be at an obnoxious setting right now, but I am SURE it will get peoples attention behind me....intense strobing for 5 seconds, then solid.  I don't know how other bikers in a group will react to it, but I'm sure I'll find out soon enough.  It can be made less obnoxious at another setting.  The front turn signals, with the white LEDs ringing the outside (on in the running down the road mode, amber turn signals (white ring goes out) when activated), are surprisingly bright, and have the appearance of 6000K in color.  There's not enough of them to function as "driving lights" at night, but they sure do light up the front and get your attention.  The main purpose for all this was more visibility, front and rear, so mission was accomplished.  Now the headlights look like yellow candles in comparison, so 6000K HID's are in the near future for the two headlamps, even though I try to avoid night riding these days.  Doesn't hurt to have them on there "in case" though.

Even the stabilizer and the strobe module were plug and play...just more connectors to tuck away in an already crowded space.  Attached the stabilizer and strobe "boxes" with double sided tape to the top of the ECM, so it can still be moved out of the way for battery access without moving the modules themselves...might have to clip a couple of wire ties, but that's all.

Sorry...no pics.  Still shots would be useless for anything but the front LEDs.  What the hell, here's a shot of them.

First, straight on...running lights.

Looks great. Did you need a load equaliser for the led turn signals?

Same question here.

Yes, you have to have a load equalizer for the turn signals, but not if you only do the tailight.  The LED's in the turn signals make the bike think it's got burned out bulbs, so they will blink too fast without it.  They are BRIGHT when flashing.  Anything to be noticed more by cages.

If you get the LED "kit" from Custom Dynamics, the load equalizer is included in the package.  For the front signals, you can do the Ringz like I did, all white lights, or all amber lights (like stock, only much brighter).  I have used Custom Dynamics products in the past...they are very well made, and the customer service is excellent.  I ordered Thursday afternoon, and they were here Monday.

Nice job!  LED lighting should be standard on CVO's IMHO.  Don't wait on the HID's.  Here's a shot of the Xenonlink HID's (low beam) and Kuryakyn LED's during the day.  I get "so noticed," I've had people pull over thinking I'm "the man."   :huepfenlol2:   :huepfenlol2:

Yea, Greg...the HID's are not long in coming.  If for no other reason other than the difference between the stock color and the new CD LED "rings" is so dramatic, it looks weird.  I will likely go with the same HID's you used, in 6000K.

Very cool, I'll have to look into the magic strobes. Wasn't aware of it. $?     A lot brighter than stock right  :2vrolijk_21:

Hemrick's HID is 6K I believe, looks to be a match to the turns

Installed several Custom Dynamics LED components yesterday evening...Amber LED rear turn signals, Laydown Smoked Tailight w/tag window(120 Red LEDs, 4 white), Dynamic Ringz Front LED turn signals (an outer ring of white LEDs, and inner cluster of Amber LEDs, Signal Stabilizer, and Magic Strobes module for the tailight (10 choices of flashing, etc).  Installation is all plug and play.

I ordered a set for the front bullets and they were delivered this morning.  Would have taken me all of 15 minutes for the whole swap out, and adding of the load balancer, but one of the bases to the lights was not glued.  This caused the rubber grommet to spin on the socket, so it wouldn't lock into the bulb mount.  A bit of epoxy, 20 minutes later and I had it installed.

The only ordering issue was they charged and shipped a full front/rear bullet swap out.  Got on the phone with customer service this morning and they provided me an RMA# for the rear bullets that I cannot use.  Overall very friendly and knowledgeable.  I would definitely order from them again.

I love the way they switch between the bright white light, and the amber turn sequence.  I hope the piggy's don't care about that.

Hemrick's HID is 6K I believe, looks to be a match to the turns

The Magic Strobe module is $49.95 by itself...it operates the LED tailight, and if you have it wired so that the rear turn signals are also run/brake(red)(I don't), it will operate those as well.  The module is about 1" wide, 2.5" long, and about 1/2" thick, with a small detent "pot" for selecting one of the 10 variations available.  It will definitely get those behind you to notice!!

The Dynamic Ringz on the front look to be 6K in color...I have a HID 6K headlight kit on hand that I will install soon so that the front lights will all be the same color.  The stock headlights are extremely yellow in comparison, as you can see in the photo.  I don't really expect much actual light output (on the roadway) from the front run/turn lights, but just additional lights to get noticed by oncoming vehicles.  CD also offers rear LED's for the turn signals that have both red and amber so you can make the rear turns both additional brake lighting, and still keep the legal amber color for the turn signals.  They operate the same way as the Dynamic Ringz.  I just chose not to go that route because the new tailight is so bright, and I have stock LED's all over the Tour Pak.

I don't see any reason the "man" would have an issue with the front run/turn signal combination, as the amber inner LED's are also VERY much brighter than the stock bulbs.

Hey MR, did the Magic Strobe kit for the rear brake also make the "3rd" brake light on the tour pack flash? That's a mod I'm looking to do on mine.
