2012 FLHXSE3 exhaust/tuner?
« on: March 15, 2012, 11:11:33 AM »

I recently received my 2012 CVO SG and have a question.  I have a like new Fuel Moto header pipe from a 103 engine that I am contemplating using on the 110 to remove the cat and hopefully get that bad boy to run a little cooler.  So I am wondering if I can install the FM header pipe and keep everything else as is and get away without using a tuner?  I have no problem with the stock mufflers as is.

On the other hand should I need to go to a tuner, then I will use a Power Vision and probably go ahead with the Fullsac 1.75 muffler core with a EFI calibration from Jamie at Fuel Moto.  But my first thought is to just swap out the header pipes without doing anything else.  I've noticed anyway from the 103 motor that when you remove the cat and open things up that the exhaust note gets louder anyway.

Thanks

Option 1, you will probably be just fine. If the bike is running good now, that should not change a thing.
Option 2, you will be happier in the long run, it should run nicer and maybe be a little cooler.

I say it's going to breathe enough different you're going to want to recalibrate the ECM.

Yeah, kind of what I was thinking too.  Great, all good.  Thanks!

Get rid of the cat is smart, and definitely tune it.  I am sure there is a great tuner down in your area that will get the bike performing better, running cooler, and accomplishing what you want from the tune.
