2 into 1 or Not?
« on: March 16, 2012, 01:40:15 PM »

Running SE pipes with fishtails on my 04 103. Sounds real good now after many miles but got a rattle inside now. Thinking about putting on a set of 2 into 1's. I want a good deep sound but not the blatty crappy loud sound when you romp on it. My buddy runs a Thunder Header on a Evo that's just to loud for me! Plus they a bit Ugly!! Any Ideas??

Drago's Bike Works Dragula (http://www.dragosbikeworks.com/dragula_21_exhaust ) or their S/C/S-4 for Baggers (http://www.dragosbikeworks.com/dragos_21_scs-4).

I just put the S/C/S-4 on my bike... sounds awesome... not as loud as a D&D Fat Cat or Thunderheader... but a nice DEEP bellow when you get on it. The muffler is packed with fiberglass around the baffle, so it eliminates the annoying higher-frequency "ringing" sounds. All you hear is the deep low tones. They are manufactured by Rush Performance, and are very high quality and ceramic coated inside and outside.

Nothing beats the sound nor the performance of a good 2-1 pipe!

Look in my Mods thread for pics of the S/C/S-4 on my bike now... http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=66236.315

Hey NorthGeoriga

What other 2-1 pipes did you consider....I am thinking of the Fat-Cats on my 113 bagger...but your post and pics have me rethinking and like what I see about the Dragula.....

You still happy and what size baffle you have?

Nice pics and bike!!

Thanks

x 2- my next exhaust will be the Dragula or the S/C/S-4 from Drago's.

I considered Thunderheader and D&D Fat Cat. Didn't really consider V&H, since they seem to be more about sound and looks than about making power these days.

Frank guarantees that the Drago's pipe will outperform any other pipe on the market. Go look at his web site. The sound is awesome... makes the motor sound like a small block Chevy V8! Wicked reversion sound on decal - but not too much, and not annoying. It's all low-frequency tones... none of the ringing high-frequency tones that drive you nuts. And at only $650 for the Dragula and $625 for the S/C/S-4 - they are by far the best 2-1 value out there. And it's made by Rush. What else could you want in a pipe?

Full specs are available at the links I posted... click on them for the details. You can also call Frank and talk with him... he's a really good guy who makes time to actually TALK with his customers.... that's quite rare these days. I'll be heading up to his shop later in the years to get his IDS chain drive installed, and have some head work done. I am shooting for 125/125. I may not make it... but 120/120 would be awesome... and I know we can get there.

The Dragula is a stepped header, for really built motors making high HP/torque numbers. The S/C/S-4 has straight 1 3/4" equal-length headers that are more suitable for stock or mildly built motors like mine... it has better bottom end, and is still good for up to 130 HP... more than I will likely ever make. The 2-1 collector is slightly different between the two pipes as well.

Just to muddy the waters a little more, there's the Bassani B4 to consider.  It's a 2-1 and sounds a lot like the S/C/S-4.  Bassani has made the B1 for a while, and it's for larger and highly built motors like the Dragula.  I got the new B4, which looks identical to the B1, but has the less radical headers.  It's designed for more low end torque and milder engine builds.

I love the sound, and like NorthGeorgiaHawg said, the reversion rumble is amazing on the B4, too.  Quality so far is excellent, and it's definitely not as loud as the D&Ds and Thunderheaders.  As far as performance, Bassani has a good reputation, and my butt dyno felt a nice improvement.  Need to check the numbers on the dyno some time.

A big reason I opted for the B4s, though, is the looks.  The headers curve to accent the transmission side cover before merging into the collector.  Thunderheader, D&D, V&H, and Drago headers are all straight through to the collector.  The B4s are unique in that regard, definitely stand out.  Also, the exhaust tip is contrast cut, which I wanted to begin with.  I paid less than $600 through a local shop.

FWIW.  Good Luck.

They look quite different. The Dragula and S/C/S-4 are Frank's own designs, manufactured by Rush under contract. Don't know about the Rush Reaper... you might give Frank a call and ask him about that.

Franks did tell me that the Dragula and the S/C/S/4 have different length headers. I think the headers on the Dragula are 1" longer than the headers on the S/C/S-4... and they are stepped vs. straight on the S/C/S-4.

I can say that I love the sound, the looks, and most importantly the performance of the S/C/S-4 on Buster! Gonna do some tuning today!

This was Franks ( Dragos ) reponse on choppedbaggers.com forum in regards to that question.

Very easy to answer Rush And Dragos Bike Works have a joint venture. We dont hide that at all. The pipes are almost the same mine do differ from theres
I come up with my designs and prototypes and they build them for me Like are SCS-4 2:1 100% mine Dragula is 100%mine
We offer 2 year warranty
We offer 2 types of baffles are 2.55 and 3.05 Which are higher flow.
We do not make smaller baffles than that.
And the headers are different in length.
If you want to talk please call I would be more than happy yo help.
The dragulas are built to my specs 100% even rush will tell you that.
They are building my Dragula Fangs as I am writing this..... much larger than the Dragula for 180hp 300 plus...
Also I will be at the dealer show in ther booth talking to people about our pipes.......
I hope this helps......

Ido know hat Frankx stuff is back ordered for a short time .. call and talk to him .. A real good guy ..

This was my choice  :2vrolijk_21:
NOT too loud and got rid of the CatC, and about 30#.. :2vrolijk_21:

JMHO :xyxthumbs:

I also added the Nightrider XiED's to add alittle more fuel to the closed loop. I liked what they did on the 96" LoBoy with the stock AC.
now I am going to see how it works with the 110" and maybe go with a stage 1 dwnld ?

See, now I'm confused- they look like they aren't equal length when compared to pictures of the Dragula, but Frank told me by email that they are both equal length headers. His website says that too  :nixweiss:

I would definately consider one of Frank's pipes. His testing and the performance he gets from his pipes are proof of his extensive research and development.
