New 06 CVO Ultra
« on: March 20, 2012, 10:20:17 PM »

I just bought this 06 CVo Ultra, with 13000 miles, and I have to admit, it certainly doesn,t have the power i expected. It is a stock bike with the touring slash cut pipes, and I am told the Harley dealer flashed the unit.   I am sure there is a lot more torque throughout low to mid rpm ranges that I can get out of this engine. So, my question is this?  With my past Harleys I have had great success with changing air cleaner, cam and pipes. So thats where I would like to start with my mods. Is there a general concensus on the best cam to use? Is it worthwhile doing some headwork with these bikes. Thanks in advance .

When I bought my 06 new I installed the SE Slipons (no longer available), stock head pipes, Air Cleaner & at the point the SE Race Tuner, (now TTS) After the dyno it made 94hp 101torque.  It ran very well.  If I were doing it today I would do the same thing, but use the original 4" cans with Fullsac baffles.

Now what does mine do today, with Yuill Bros Elite D Mufflers (true duals) Same Air Cleaner, Yuill Bros YB13 Gear Drive Cams & 10.25 compression = 104hp  114torque.

Thanks for your help. What is the factory compression ratio on these bikes?

I don't remember for sure but flat top pistons & open chamber heads, guessing 9:1
