I am always washing my bike. I live on a dirt road and every time I get home from a ride my bike is covered in dust. I guess thats the price I pay for living in the country.

We live in the country too, about 70 miles west of DC near the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley.  I only have about 150 yards of gravel driveway, but dust still is a pain in the tookus....but all we have to do is decide "left or right" and we're on a great riding road.   :mango:
Only 150 yds.........I'd have to pave me a sidewalk or something for the scooter.  :) spyder

I will be moving to a home on a lake sometime late June early July when they finish construction.  I have about 1/2 on a clay road from the paved street to my driveway.  Not too dusty, lots of pot holes, but the bike will be parked and unable to ride it when the road is wet.  Wet clay is almost like ice when its wet plus the road is uneven.  That's gonna suck, didn't think  :confused5: hard enough on that one!

When the pavement changes to dirt I change direction. Hard enough to keep BIG RED clean. But if I did live on a dirt road I guess I would just deal with it. :nixweiss:

If I lived on a dirt road/lane  :'( leading to my house from the road and I couldn't afford to pave it, I would pave a path one foot wide the length of the road/lane that ran from my house to the road.  :P

My house is at the end of a gravel road about a half mile long. In the summer it tends to get really dusty to the point that a horse fly can fart when it flies over and you get a dust cloud. I gave up on trying to keep my truck so clean as I would like it to be but am more anal about the bike. Last couple of years I left the bike at my shop in town to avoid the dust. That works but it sucks to have to drive 20 miles to town to get on the bike. Been trying to get the county to at least put down some calcium chloride or any dust control agent, I even offered to pay for the material if they would supply the equipment, but they claim the funds are too low. The irony is that if a construction site was as dusty as my road can get they would be subject to heavy fines, go figure...

I would rather live in a dirt house (sod house), than on a dirt road! :cherry:

Just blacktopped our half mile driveway last fall. REally love it this spring. Before this house, we lived on a 2mile gravel road. It was 5mph until I got to the county road. When it was muddy, I would trailer it the 2 miles, unload and ride, then load up and trailer the 2 miles home.  A bit of work, but hey, I got to ride and keep the bike clean (er).

CaCl is slicker than horse snot when wet.  That's what they use on the Dalton Hwy.  It's like trying to ride on axle grease.  It sticks to the tires enough the fenders cut off the excess.  Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.  Probably would do it again.

Dirt roads just mean you ride fast enough to stay ahead of the dust cloud. :bananarock: :2vrolijk_21:
