Heated Grips on FLHXSE2
« on: March 22, 2012, 02:49:44 PM »

Guts, I need a bit of help here. I have the FLHXSE2 with stock handle bars. I bought the Aileron heated grips P/N 56828-08A to have them installed. Would they fit inside the stock handlebar or do I need to go with something thicker?

Interesting that it says not compatible with internally wired bars on HD's website. Are the wires really heavy?

They have always said that, and yet those are the same grips that Harley installs and wires internally on the CVO Ultra's.  Seems to be another case of do as we say, not as we do.

If you want to avoid a whole lot of potential issues with those grips, look into the Heat Demons instead.  There are plenty of threads around here about them, and a lot of satisfied users.

The heat Demons also let you use any grips including your stock ones.  I've wired them up on several bikes including the throttle by wire and you can run the wires internally.

Hello ya Ragy ya negm . I had the stock heated grips on my Ultra Limited and couldn't internally wire them when i changed my handle bar on the throttle side - the bars were  1-1/4 paul yaffe monkey set 10'' which have a big bend unlike the stock HD bars.

SO probably externally wiring them is the solution -or give it a try maybe it can work.

They worked flawlessly for 2 years too.

We want to ride my friend. :huepfenjump3:

Hashash, welcome Buddy to the world of CVO. This is probably the forum with the nicest people ever. Very helpful and experienced. I just installed the grips yesterday at Hany's and they managed to wire them internally so ALL IS COOL
